Jacoby Brissett: Class Act

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

What the Browns hoped they were getting was the version of Brissett who’d helped the 2019 Colts start the season 5-2 before injuries — to Brissett and several other position groups — derailed their season. The internal hope, too, was that the Browns could count on Brissett for a month, or maybe two, to guide their run-first offense and keep things afloat while Watson served a suspension for violations of the league’s personal conduct policy.
What the Browns have seen in the last two games from Brissett is sharp and efficient quarterback play by any measure. Brissett earned the confidence of the locker room with both his play and his unselfish personality, and even as the Browns gave away a win in Week 2 with an improbable late-game meltdown, they’re 2-1 and they’re the league’s best running team — but they’re not just a running team.
“If you have a balanced offense and you don’t ask a guy to throw the ball 50 times, I think that gives everybody a chance to kind of settle in,” Bitonio said. “Jacoby’s never wanted anything but what’s best for this offense, and when we’ve needed him to make a big throw he’s done it.

Can't put this on him. He's not going to win games, but he didn't lose today. Coaching did.

Sure you can. He wasn't very good. He wasn't the only reason they lost, but he was a reason.

When the running game runs for 177 and the offense only scores 20 points, there's absolutely a share of blame to be placed on the QB.

He definitely showed his limitations today. Unable to get the ball into guys hands on screens was a killer.

Hit that open Njoku screen and we might be sitting 3-1.

Well he put us in position to have at least 10 more points with better coaching

The plays he tried to make after he connected on the bomb for sure changed, too much

Brissett wasn't brought in to "win" games for the Browns.

the abandonment of the game late was a "no-no" for me.....Brissett 21 pass attempts in the 2nd half to Chubb's 7 touches. thats not acceptable in my book

This is the NFL. You’re not on the field if you’re not capable of contributing to winning football games.

Some of y’all get way too deep into some of these nonsensical cliches. “He wasn’t brought here to win games” is just nonsense stuff.

Jacoby Brissett’s job is to execute whatever plays are called to the best of his ability.

Did he call the pass play on 2nd and goal from the one? Did he fumble the screen pass? Did one of those drives not take 15% of the game clock off?

Some uncharacteristically surface level analysis from you today

I do think Stefaski had a top 5 bad play calling in his career today. The 2nd & G from the 1 pass call, the pitch to Chubb on 3rd and 1...all terrible play calls. Couldn't get the offense out of the muck and didn't do Brissett any favors.

Doesn't change my mind on him being a top 5 play caller in the NFL. Sometimes, guys just have bad days.

I didn’t say he was the only problem, or even the biggest problem. Stefanski had a worse game than Brissett did, but that doesn’t mean Brissett wasn’t bad himself.

The Browns had a -0.16 EPA per dropback today. To pin everything on coaching when there were clearly plays to be made that weren’t is laughable to me.

People have such a fucking hard on for Stefanski at all times that it blinds them IMO.
