The contract discussion has become a theater of the absurd.

1. The core of the team was drafted in the past four years and Dan Gilbert is not afraid of paying salary now that the luxury tax has reset. The Cavs are saving money short-term because rookie deals are cheap.

2. The point is that Lauri's contract in 2021 is the new going rate for a high end player off the bench. It's a contract one used to pay for a top 3 player on the roster, but the cap made a few huge jumps recently.

3. That price point was used as a measurement of Allen's contract, also signed in the same off-season. Allen is paid like a starter, but he isn't being paid like a star.

SMH at anyone thinking they can make assumptions about regular season games and how players will perform over the long haul after a few pre season games. give it a month or 2, then start to form your opinions about everything. Now is not the time to extrapolate opinions based on small pre season samples.

No love for JA tonight? He looked motivated and agressive in a tough matchup with Adams. He even looked comparatively good guarding the perimeter, while Morant and Melton were torching Sexton and Garland, shooting over them like they weren't there, save for a single good stop by Sexton on Morant late in the 4th.

In the game thread I challenged the experts to check out the advanced stats because I feel like so far this season we simply kick some fucking ass when he's on the floor.

That's the word I was going to use: "smooth." Just seems effortless and under control in getting to the rim from anywhere within the key. Held Nokic in check offensively.
