I was going to say that Allen hasn't looked the same but then I looked at the game logs and he hasn't really played this bad. So this was just weird game or is something going on?

He honestly looked like he had the flu or COVID or something. Just no energy at all, which is abnormal for him.

He had to be sick. He had a blank tired look on his face and the activity level from him was night and day tonight compared to every other game this season.
This. He's never looked like that before. Body language, facial expression - like you said: blank, tired look. He's usually enjoying himself on the court. Tonight he had that "wife made me go to IKEA" look on his face the whole goddamn game. Hope he's alright and bounces back soon.

I wonder if some of these guys celebrated too hard after the Nets win.

He was just slow all night. Defensively he was never where he needed to be.

Offensively the Bulls took away what he does best. He needs to regular counter to that, when teams target the lob.

But I'll wait till the next game to really get worried. Just a bad, bad game.

He might just be wiped. Been a tough 2 weeks. Isaac and Lauri looked pretty fresh. Maybe Goodwin

I don't buy that he's sick or abnormally tired. Allen has a tendency to start hanging his head a bit when things are not working - that's often the downside of being an intelligent basketball player. You get down on yourself.

The way he's catching the ball now in the middle, he doesn't have any space when he lands. He's immediately surrounded by a couple of bigs who swipe at the ball. The league has adjusted to our pick and roll and our spacing sucks, mainly because we get zero outside shooting from the 2 spot (or Mobley).

Allen is a rim runner, not a banger. He's being asked to bang a lot right now and it's wearing him down.

I have an excerpt from an intrepid young reporter challenging Jarrett about his perceived lack of energy after the Bulls game last night:

Joey Reporter: And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try... except during the playoffs.

Roger Murdock Jarrett: [breaking character] The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLATexas. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag WaltonGobert and LanierJokic up and down the court for 48 minutes!

This is silly. He's not "worn down". The entire team was tired after playing a long stretch of games, mostly on the road heading into the Bulls game. It happens.

He's an NBA Center who's been starting by and large for 5 seasons, he's matched up with bangers and guys who play in space and guys who play for the lob. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has changed in his defensive assignments all of a sudden.

He has added a post game an a 10-15' jumper, though, neither of which is wearing him down.

Has any reason been given why he didn't play last night?
