In many regards I do not disagree. But one certain way for the franchise to take a very big step forward is if Mobley takes a very big step forward. It is a risk a lot are willing to take. Tbh if he doesn't next year then I start to get really concerned.

Found this interesting sorting through the regular season stats. Allen averaged 16.5 pts and 10.5 reb.

Here's the list of the other guys that averaged 15+ pts and 10+ reb this year:
  • Embiid
  • Jokic
  • AD
  • Wemby
  • Sabonis
  • BAM
  • Vucevic
  • Ayton
Embiid, Giannis, BAM, AD, Wemby are the only guys on that list that are as good or better defensive player than Allen. Not saying he's as good as those guys as overall players, but he's in very rare company as a big.

While the eventual move might be to trade him, this list shows why he’ll be difficult to replace for a number of reasons.

His attitude has started to concern me. There are games where he clearly feels it is personal and plays aggressively like that Spurs game against Wemby and then there are games where he looks okay with playing like a bench big and doesn't really want the ball. If any of the latter is coach driven, then his development is essentially done until they get a new voice in the locker room imo.

He definitely doesn't have that alpha-dog personality (want to punch myself in the face for using that term). It is to be determined if that is because he lacks confidence because his skills aren't there yet, or if he will never develop the skills and/or personality.

I honestly think Mobley is a hybrid 3/4/5. Today he's a 4/5, but needs to continue to work on strength, handles, and outside shooting. I could see Mobley being a 3/4 when all is said and done. I really wish we kept Lauri too.

I hope next year, whomever the coach is they prioritize development and health in the regular season. Also someone who will give clearly defined roles and someone who has the balls to bench guys who deviate from it. Screw the playoffs, who cares! I obviously want in, but if we have to fight as a 10 seed to get in and we get waxed by a 1 seed, no different than these last 2 years.

I'd put Mobley on a Giannis diet and make him bring the ball up the floor to initiate from time to time, have him and JA start shooting a minimum of 5 3's a game. That is really the only way we take the next step. I'd trade Garland regardless of what DM does.

Garland is too slight and/or not wired the right way for big games. Maybe it's the coaching, but I'm not sure who the heck would give us anything of value for him that would be a better fit.

With all our criticisms of the core Cavs players the past three days, Lauri still hasn't played in his first playoff series yet.
Pretty sure if mitchell is still in utah they'd be making noise in the west. Because lauri can do everything better bogdanovic does.

It would be pathetic if all the battling JA has done for the team now ends due to a stupid injury probably because he was the only one concerned about getting past the first round.

Allen has been the best player in the series so it looked bleak when he was scratched.

Great win under pressure and shorthanded up front.

Coach won’t get much if any credit but his adjustments worked.

Big Time. Should give them the momentum swing going into Orlando and hopefully they can finally win one on the road...
