I really don't get it. He was non-existent on the boards last night. You didn't feel his presence at all. Too many games like this from him this year. His effort level seems low lately
I just think the expectations here are way too high for him. He makes the all star team because of an injury and he's the home town replacement, and now everyone thinks of him as an all star. He's not an elite player, he's a better than average center who has a lot of limitations. The Celtics with Williams on the floor are just a bad match up for the Cavs. Okoro couldn't stay with Tatum and our guards couldn't stop penetration, and whenever that happened Allen or Mobley had to help and there's no one left underneath to stop Williams. If you are honest about this, outside of Mobley and Allen and maybe Stevens, this is an awful rebounding team, and if Mobley or Allen are forced to regularly help on penetration a player like Williams will destroy the Cavs, sort of like how TT used to feast on the offensive boards on LBJ drives.

Yeah, but Allen and Mobley both came to the ball at times and you just can't help that much. They had the same problem against Philly. You have to know your personnel. This was the first game they played against Willimas. They have to be better. Need to get down the floor faster and not let him park in the lane like that.

My view is Mobley has a weakness over helping. It's one that isn't terminal, but we need to slow future hall of fame stuff until he stops 3 point shooters. Right now, he sucks.

Allen takes the fall for little brothers sins. Letting old man Horford and Tatum nose wiggle you into a career night is embarrassing.

Doesnt Mobley lead the league in contested 3s? or very close to it

Didn't he just have a great february? Seems like just one really bad game in a long time to me.

I haven't liked his activity in these losses
There’s no shame in losing to Boston or Denver which we beat Boston twice already and Denver barely beat us the only loss I hated was to Atlanta. Jarrett will be fine cavs will be fine

I can name a few.games that made me nauseous. I'd have to look up the stats to see if JA sucked in those. That home Warriors loss, Losing to the Knicks when we could hardly put up 80 pts. The Spurs loss, Twolves and Kings losses both pissed me off too. Sometimes JA comes up small, but not as much as some make it seem.

JA plays tentative against good teams. He has to be physical no matter the opponent. He sets the tone for the team.

Have started to wonder what this team would look like with Allen being the core piece in that Mitchell trade.

Mitchell-Garland-Markk-Mobley feels like a better long term skill set to build with in a shooters league. Also, gives you more flexibility in line up configurations with Levert and Okoro, as you have a legit 3rd shooter on the court.

I’m starting to question if Allen has the type of motor I would prefer from a 7ft rim runner/protector, and whether his value is easier to replace that another high upside shooter

There are more shooters than there are switchable bigs who can protect the rim. So no.

That’s a weird way to look at it. The question isn’t how many there are but how valuable each type of player is. Also Markkanens prototype is rare too - how many bigs are there who can play OK defense against 3-4-5s while putting up 40% from 3 on volume shooting and scoring 25 ppg? Not a ton of them

Agreed with this. We will feel this the most come playoff time when we cannot generate any offense because of our lack of shooting.
