It can't be impossible to land Jarrett Jack, wonder what it would take though. I heard during the Heat and Portland ball game(still going on now, Heat suck btw :chuckles:) that Portland is looking to deal someone away(or maybe more) to make room on their roster. Now Jack seems to be a good part of their team and it doesn't look like they intend to deal Jack, but it's always nice to think about it.

Jack seems like a solid point guard, he leads the NBA in assist per game off the bench with 3.8, and 9.9 points per game, in 27 minutes per game.

Just a thought.

mm ya he fits in to that watson, rindour, jack type caliber point guard. They are good but not real good. I dont know if jack could ever be really good. We should look to get someone who is young enough to get better. Or go with bibby digital cause i think he may be good for the rest of his career.

Jack is a 2-year pro, so hes pretty young. Jack could be a even better point guard with a guy named LeBron James next to him, and good shooters like Gibson and Jones. He could also setup Z, and maybe Hughes, some.

Hes just a solid option IMO, I mean, what else is there to go after? I want Mike Bibby, but it wont happen. Portland obviously doesn't need Drew Gooden, so a deal isn't likely.

One of their guards must be gettable, especially considering they even have Rudy and Koponen stashed away in Europe. Based on their rotation and from what I read somewhere, seems like Sergio is the odd man out, maybe Green.

I'd take Sergio in a heartbeat. Who would we have to give to get him? Shannon Brown and a 2nd rounder?

probably not Shannon, given their overabundance of guards. thought they could just let him expire at the end of the season. and i'm not sure if they need picks, i think they already have two first-rounders coming to them. of course, picks are always tradeable.

I live in Portland and watch the Blazers a lot, and I can honestly say that picking up a guy like Eric Snow to mesh with this young talent would not be such a bad thing for this franchise. They have a LOT of young talent overseas, guys like Rudy Fernandez and Joel Freeland, and plus they have like 4 picks or something like that in next year's draft. On top of all that, Jack doesn't even start...Steve Blake does. Having E-Snow come off the bench for defensive purposes may help them maintain their division lead throughout the season, especially in a division with some explosive guards like AI and Deron Williams.

The only thing is that it's going to be very, very difficult for us to work out a trade since the contracts are way off. I can, however, see us taking on Raef LaFrentz huge contract since it is due to expire in 2009. How about Jack and LaFrentz (combined $13 million) for Snow and Donyell Marshall (combined $12.2 million)?

The Cavs would have to take back one of Portland's bad contracts in order to get one of their young players. LaFrentz is badly overpaid but I wouldn't mind him here as an extra backup big man who can shoot with range. He's also only signed through next season.
Jack would be a nice addition and I think would fit pretty well here. He could play at the same time with any G on the Cavs roster.

I don't see Portland making a trade during this season. They will have to do something to clear a few roster spots though so I can see them dealing during the offseason. They definitely are a team we should keep our eyes on for a trade.

As with any ideas for trades, it's hard to find players on the Cavs to trade that other teams might want. That being said, I've always like Jack, and would like to have him on the Cavs. I'm not sure if he is the long term answer, but it seems to me that he has a fair amount of upside.
