So some of you guys believe he will make it back and be a decent contributor. Some even want him as a Cavalier. I personally think he is at least another season away if he makes it back at all.

Quite an informed opinion Karma, for someone living in austrailia. :chuckles:

Can someone with cap space sign him this year to a multi-year, insured contract, shelf him for some or all of the season with the hopes he comes back to near 100% next year?

For example, sign him for a mil this year, with an escalating contract with performance incentives in future years.

On the flip side, would JWill want to lock into something like that, or swallow his pride, get to 100%, then prove himself next year and get an MLE...

Insurance may be a problem with a long term deal. I cannot see teams taking that risk with him before he has even stepped foot back on the court. Really why would you give him anything more than the minimum? But answering your question Chicago, teams can offer him an esculating deal, but it would be tough to find an insurance company to be on board with that.

I really hope he makes it back! But the minimum is all he should get this year. Maybe the Cavs will take a chance and see if it pays off. Gotta admire his determination to get back in the league, not many players could do that.......

Toronto may do it. They can offer him an deal for up to four year at the min. JWill would do it, because right now he is out. Four million dollars is a good reason if you are looking at working at burger king as the alternative. For Toronto, its a lot less risky than the draft pick they made this year. They are in a rebuild year anyway, so what is to lose? If it works, even as a back up PG they have a steal locked in and they can spend money else where. If he makes it back far enough to be better than Alston, well Babcock will look like a genius.

Also if Jwill retires in Canada he gets free health care !
