Jim Tressel resigns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Doesn't appear that anything has come of the "cheap car" talk...as most have been cleared already with the exception of one player for the Buckeyes (Take a wild guess).

Of course, the fact is that USC did this on a MUCH larger scale than Ohio State....

Also, USC was hit with LOIC penalty....something that doesn't appear to be in the cards with Ohio State unless more allegations come to light.

Thus, to say OSU is going to get 'USC'd" has no basis at this point...none whatsoever.

I think you are continuing a trend of looking at things through Scarlett and Grey colored glasses. I hate to say it, but the LOIC penalty never comes until the very end, and it most likely will be brought up and mentioned int he final report. Saying otherwise is just being overly optimisitc like thinking Tressel was going to get away with a 2 game suspension.

Not sure how anyone can make a LOIC claim at this point, especially with most of the SI article coming to light as pure 100 percent BS

The SI article was not the nuke it was claimed to be. It was a simple lay out the facts article. The writter gave you the quotes along with back story from the people it came from. The people claiming parts of the article containing lies have motive to claim it is a lie. Until that is followed with legal action from them, I will take parents and people possibly facing legal problems with as much of a grain of salt as the article itself.

Right now they don't have a lot to charge Ohio State with lack of institutional control. Failure to monitor can be argued. From what I understand Ohio State as a large compliance department and they have self reported a ton of violations. They also have a good education program on these rules according to the players and administration. Ray small, Rob Rose and Terrelle Pryor all said they knew the rules and knew that they were breaking the rules but they needed the money. The same thing applies to Jim Tressel. It was clear on what Tressel was supposed to do when he hears of potential violations. He didn't follow the rules of the system they had in place. The charge of LOIC is premature at this point as long as Ohio State can prove that they had a good compliance system and educational system in place. I see Failure to monitor being added which is a huge charge itself.

Yea, except now most of the "facts" that were "layed out" in this article have turned out to be bunk.

If Pryor needed the money so badly how is he now driving around a 30K car. If you really believe that they sold these things because they absolutly needed the money but yet they can afford all these cars without gettting discounts and special deals,I have some beach front property for sale. If you need help with the money I know a Nigerian prince you can talk to.

When was he driving a 30K car?

I dont really care about players in school selling memorbilia. I dont really care if Jim tressel decided not to report something that would come out anyways. I dont believe it gave Ohio state an advantage on the field and ultimately the players should be held accountable. tressel Loved his job at Ohio State and was extremely loyal to the institution and the people who made up the institution. No longer being the Coach or affiliated with Ohio state is the ultimate punishment for any wrongdoing by a guy like Tressel.
Hopefully we see him coaching in the pros eventually The only thing I have to wish on Tressel is to wish him well.

The system is screwed. its big time money with with uneven distribution. Players will continue to get perks for being athletes.

My main concern as far as the "integrity" of the game is about agents, Recruits, and boosters investing in high school kids. none of these allegations or violation fall under that category.

by the way how much of that memorbilia was sold after Tressel found out in april?

Huh?

So I guess you believe Ohio State beats Oregon anyway without Pryor, Posey and the others playing?

Jim Tressel covered up for his boys because he didn't want them NOT playing. He also wanted to win the game. He went so far to cover it all up that he lied to the NCAA TWICE about it by saying he knew nothing.

I'm not sure which part of that you don't understand?

Pryor announced today he is not coming back to the football team.

Terrelle Pryor has ended his playing career at Ohio State, his lawyer, Larry James said this evening in a phone call with the Plain Dealer.

"In the best interest of my team, I have decided to forego my senior year of football at the Ohio State University," James said, reading a statement on behalf of his client.

James said Pryor had been considering this option for several days and made the choice this evening, leaving James' office in Columbus just before 6 p.m.

James said the decision does not mean that Pryor will necessarily be facing further NCAA sanctions that could have ended his Ohio State career, but the quarterback, who would have been a senior this fall, made this choice now. He was already facing a five-game suspension at the start of the 2011 season for trading memorabilia to a Columbus tattoo artist for money and tattoos.

"We've talked about the emotional roller coaster that he is going through," James told the Plain Dealer, "and even if he was cleared 100 percent it was going to be difficult."

James said Pryor has not decided if he will enter the NFL's supplemental draft. If he applies to the league, that draft could be held in July, where Pryor would likely be a mid-round pick. At the moment, James said Pryor is considering staying at Ohio State and finishing his last year as a student.

"He'll take the next couple days to collect this thoughts," James said. "Right now, when you reach closure, it's very emotional."

How can you cover up something that they already knew? Tressel

fact is. Their crimes were so heinous that the NCAA allowed them to play after the violations were known.

This wouldnt of even been an issue if OSU hadnt sought an appeal. hell the NCAA allowed Cam Newton to Play to .

I dont give a shit if Tressel lied to the NCAA about when he knew about. I also may have missed it but What violations occurred after Tressel became aware of it?

Tressel paid his price for what he did wrong. give it ten years and they should put a gold bust in the woody hayes lobby
