this is a releif so even if redd doesn't bolt the bucks we can still make a max offer to him he is younger taller better defender shot 3's at a 57% clip during the palyoffs, I'd like to have him and now it's not out of the question. Phoenix can't match the max unless they want to go broke they signed bell already want finley really bad, and plus theres some guy named amare i guess he needs a long term deal as well so they can't match this and if they do then they jeopardize their entire future...so if plan A fails and with ray ray locked up then jj is a perfect ulternative!

After we exhaust our mike redd, and larry hughes options, i'm sure we'll make a pitch for jj if we can't land one of those.

It wouldnt hurt to offer him the max if we strike out on the other FA's. I hope JJ waits for us to be done pursuing the other sg's before he accepts their offer.

Well if we are offering the max like we say we are and were speculated in doing so beleive me he won't accept less then the max if there is a chance he can make it..

BUT THEY CAN STLL MATCH our offer right ?

i imagine this is just bait to see if he will bite, so they can get him on the cheap (or cheaper then they thought )

They have the option, so they can match anything any team offers.

Regardless of what our offer is, they can match it and go over the cap to do it. And since they got rid of Q, they arent getting rid of JJ too.

This is just a low ball offer. Like everyone said, Phoenix can match anything JJ signs. So they're throwing something less than what other teams can offer because they know the most they're paying is the max someone else can. Maybe JJ will take offense to this and sign a one year deal, making him a UFA next season.

if nothing else, we'll be forcing half the league to overpay for their own players. first allen, then maybe redd, then hughes, then johnson. we'd F up seattle, milwaukee, washington, and phx's payroll for 5-6 years.

If the Cavs miss out on Redd than I would call the Suns bluff and make an offer to Johnson. I think it would be worth a chance at that point. With the period teams have to decide whether to match offers now down to 7 days, that helps out the Cavs too since they don't have the old 15 day waiting period to deal with.

well hopefully it doesn't come down to that. That could be the end of July before we knew an answer.

I still think the Suns are going to match any offer anyways...

I just hope they have the respect to make their decision quickly.

It doesnt take 15 days to figure it out.

The new CBA states that the turnaround period is only 7 days, down from the previous 15 days.

Even then, it doesnt take that long.

JJ couldn't sign a contract until July 22nd. They could wait until July 29th...Let's hope Redd signs...I can't take much more of this waiting around....
