Joe Schobert

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This guy is going to be a really solid player.

Him and Barky Mingo can have a dunk-off.

PFF calls him the 12th best pick in the draft

12. Joe Schobert, LB, Cleveland Browns
One of the “sleepers” of this draft class, Schobert just never seemed to be blocked cleanly last season at Wisconsin. His balance, hand usage, and agility are all absolutely top notch, but his size kept him out of the early rounds. A switch to inside linebacker could be in the works and if that’s the case, he’ll immediately be a devastating blitzing threat for the Browns. Last season he led all edge players with a 22.7 pass rushing productivity.

Anyone else find themselves calling him Sherbert instead of Schobert?

Competition for pass rushers is going to be pretty interesting.

Paul Kruger
Keke Mingo
Nate Orchard
Armonty Bryant
Scott Solomon
Jackson Jeffcoat
Joe Schobert
Emmanuel Ogbah

Got to think there will be a surprise or two by camp's end. Also have heard they may move Schobert inside, but Bryant, Mingo, Jeffcoat and Solomon all have to be considered on the chopping block.

Can you rank in order on likelyhood of making the team?

For example, like Kruger, but do we need a vet presence or is he just taking developmental time from someone like Orchard?

Just to add.. I was listening to Schobert on the radio with Nathan Zegura after he was drafted. Nathan asked him how he expected to be used and he said that on the phone-call when he was drafted, the coaches talked about him being both inside and outside.

I'm excited about the linebacker room.. The team also brought in Dominique Alexander to compete, who was interesting as well.

I think Kruger, Orchard, Ogbah, Schobert and Ogbah are locks.

Bryant is on the suspended list, so he doesn't count against the active roster.

Mingo, Solomon and Jeffcoat fight for the final 1-2 spots. Obviously Mingo has the talent advantage, but Scott Solomon was a guy who was really impressive before the injury.

Even if Mingo has a great camp and looks productive in the preseason, I hope they look to trade him for a low pick and get value back. He is in a contract year and finally started doing what he is supposed to do. Screw that noise.

It may or may not mean anything but
Mingo and Solomon were guys brought in under Pettine
Bryant and Kruger were brought in under Horton 1.0

That said, I think the Browns are going to cut bait with Bryant. Solomon I think goes too. Jeffcoat, who knows. Mingo is certainly on the bubble too
