Smith to miss up to 2 months after knee surgeryAssociated Press

Smith

MILWAUKEE -- Bucks forward Joe Smith will have surgery on his left knee Tuesday and be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

John Heinrich, the team's orthopedic surgeon, will perform the arthroscopic procedure to remove loose cartilage that has caused persistent swelling and pain since training camp.

Smith has been limited to eight games this season, including five starts. The 11th-year pro is averaging 9.8 points and nine rebounds.

The Bucks signed forward Josh Davis, who originally signed with them Oct. 2 and played in one game before being waived Nov. 24.

Thats a tough blow, wasnt he like ur 6th man? Ouch, well that should deplete some of their depth, which is good for the Central, but you never wanna see a team weakened via injruy.

The Bucks will be playing with a heavy center rotation with Bogut, Magliore and Gadzuric all playing bigger minutes. The Bucks can push Simmons and Kukoc to the 4 but they will be overpowered on most nights. The Bucks are thin for natural power forwards and with an ageing and increasingly injury prone Joe Smith their only real 4 man, they do need to look at their options closely.

bad luck to smith, always liked him...they got out of a hole last night in philly too

Probably a blessing in disguise for the Bucks. Gadzuric really needed to get some minutes and is producing now that he's playing. It was Gadzuric that dispatched the Orlando Magic (16 fourth quarter points). Although Joe was averaging a near double double, he's not built for the long crawl to 82. We'll need him for the grind of the playoffs. He should be fine then and the Bucks are deep enough to win without him. Bogut and Magloire can play the 4-5 in the rugged East. That frontline just isn't as effective in the more mobile western conference.

is this supposed to be like surprising? he is always hurt.

So true. Good thing we have players behind him that can step up and win games (Bogut).

I'd be concerned, Hughes has not had his paid vacation yet. Ferry should make a pre-emptive strike and bite the bullet on Sprewell. You need him NOW anyway.
