Joel Embid 2016-17

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anyone else skeptical as to the severity of this injury

Knowing his injury history, no.

I assume you are suggesting they are shutting him down to tank, but I don't think that's the case at all here. They're already in the top 5 even with Embiid playing, and they just moved 2 of their better players at the deadline. Even if he did play, they'd still end up in the 4 or 5 spot for the lotto IMO.

But really...he got seriously hurt on a minutes restriction with no back-to-backs...that's not good...

I just don't trust those 76ers... They're almost as much of draft=love=life believers as the Boston Assets!!!

Don't trust the process?

What's not to like?

Acquired Draft Pick Noel in 2013, sits out a year, then traded for not much. He was healthy and had some promise so they can't keep him around.

Draft Embiid in 2014, sit out two years, play 20-some games, done for the year. Arguably Rookie of the Year as the entire draft class outside of him hasn't shown as much as he did in those couple dozen games. His early career looks like that of Z, except Z eventually got healthy. Don't know about this guy.

Draft Jahlil Okafor in 2015, he tries to play with a huge chest cavity, fans want him out, he's on the floor and with the team. 3rd overall pick and if he was on the Cavs, there would be ZERO role for him. His game is utterly unsuited for 2017, his attitude sucks, he plays when he wants to, he's capable of TWO REBOUNDS in 22 minutes, and

Draft Simmons in 2016, injured in training camp, done for the year. That makes FOUR YEARS IN A ROW that a would-be rookie 6-10 or taller never got on the floor.

Nobody believes the Sixers in Philly -- the story keeps changing, the second round draft picks and misfit players keep piling up, Brett Brown is sentenced to be a tank commander, flashes of hope and promise soon end with more injuries, dumped players, excuses and empty seats at Wells Fargo.

Serious Oden vibes with this guy.

So much talent, but a body that can't keep him on the floor.

Expect he's way better than Oden ever was.

It's unfortunate. His knees remind me of Byunm's knees. Or Brandon Roy.

I feel like even if he has a couple killer years, his career will ultimately get cut short.

Really sucks because he was having an unprecedented impact on Philly winning games as a rookie. Like, super elite type of impact there.

With good knees, he's probably a future MVP/perennial 1st team all NBA/ best player in the league type of player.

Can't we build this dude a bionic knee or something? Don't we have the tech for that by now? We deserve 10 years of 75+ games+playoffs, 38MPG, Joel Embiid.

Random, unrelated thought, but Brandon Roy was a damn good player. It's a shame he had the knee problems. I remember that playoff game against Dallas where he put everything out on the court and looked like a top-5 player by scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter.

Roy could have really been one of the great NBA wings, but those knees have made him a damn good coach.

Embiid was looking like the rookie year of one of the greatest players in basketball history if he could stay healthy. Incredibly rare for rookies to have that kind of impact. Now he's back to being a giant question mark.

So My fiance went to high school where he now coaches. It helps he got some absolutely fantastic players to transfer to that school so will be interesting to find out how good of a coach he actually is, once the star recruits stop coming. That said interesting news from that area. the porter brothers who are each top recruits, one of which had already signed his LOI to go to u of Washington are now up for grabs. Despite having a top 5 recruiting class uwash just fired their basketball coach of 15 years. Something smells fishy, it should be interesting what happens. You dont just fire your head coach of that long bringing in a ridiculous recruiting class for nothing. My guesses are he got caught doing someone or something he wasnt supposed to, a booster offered a shit ton of money, and/or the plan to make a run at brandon roy to coach.

22 points on 9 shots, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a block ... in 15 minutes.

If this guy stays healthy he could wreck the Association.

I'm not sure why he's talking so much shit right now? When you can't stay healthy, it seems kinda dumb to run your mouth about a pre-season game?

Dude played less games than Greg Oden in his first 3 years and he talks shit likes hes a 5 time all-star already lmao, he really needs to keep his mouth shut and prove he can actually play at least 50 games a year for once

Imagine a healthy Embiid being drafted by the Cavs and having him play with Lebron in my fantasy land.
God damnit.

He is talking shit because he is a huge 7'3 dude with a huge dick, I would talk shit too.

It was clear he was the best prospect in that draft. Thankfully the Clinic doctors flagged his injuries. In retrospect, essentially taking Kevin Love with the first pick was the right move. We would have two titles right now if not for Olynyk.

YEah that 2014-2015 was in the bag even with only Kyrie being healthy.. we had complete control of the 1st game with the starters in. The only reason we dropped the lead time and time again was because of our miserable bench at the time.
James Jones and Mike Miller getting significant minutes is a killer.

I do believe we overpaid for Love and now that you see the price of disgruntled stars it makes you wonder.. not that it matters because GSW changed the landscape of the league and lowered the value of impact players around the league, but still.

Love never came close to the impact that he was advertised to give the Cavs, especially on the biggest stage relative to the price that was paid at the time. Unfortunate really. GSW just came out of nowhere.

You have to remember that we traded Wiggins for Love only after getting assurances he was resigning for 4 more years. The reason PG13 was traded for 0.50 was that he said he was going to LA next year. I think that Kyrie was traded for a much bigger haul than Love. We even got to dump Bennett’s salary. Plus Wiggins is average and KLove is an All Star as a third wheel. Plus he sexy af.

Even with GSW, if not for the injuries and Durant being a bitch, we are talking three peat. It’s bad luck and probably the curse using all of its powers, but LeBron overcame.
