Beilein's offense is a joke. It's very Collegy. Very few high PnRs and the way that he tells his primary ball handler to pass the ball to the big/wing right after he passes the half court in semi transition instead of attacking going down hill is moronic. His sets are ineffective, repetitive and easy to defend.

I'm sorry, but I can not watch Garland pass up the ball to a worthless big or Sexton just to give the ball back to him after his stupid sets fail when he has a chance to attack in the PnR going down hill and create a much better scoring opportunity.

When you hire a college coach who coached in college for 40 years what did you really expect? It was always gonna look like a college team. Gonna be very ugly until he adjusts to the NBA game. If he even can. Can't teach a old dog new tricks.

Then what did the FO think?

How do you get run off your court against G-Leaguers and rookies and play so, so miserably. Shit, don't care that it's preseason, what I see is very telling.

The FO was thinking lets make Dan happy by nabbing a big time college coach. And the one that had mutual interest was Beilein. Its not secert Dan has wanted a top tier college coach since he bought the team. He tried multiple times on Izzo. Tried on Callipari.

As for tonight's game I'm not going to defend a piss poor performance. But even if the team didn't suck tonight we would have lost because Edwards was unreal. These past two games have been very discouraging. Am hoping they show us something different next week. If they are still this sloppy and lazy Coach B needs to go sooner rather then later. Its night and day how we performed vs Boston these last two games compared to how we looked against Detroit where they were competitive and played with energy.

Detroit sucks without Blake.

Beilein showed me plenty. If he doesn't give Garland the green light to shoot 7++ threes until the defense gives him the Curry respect, run the team, run him through screens as a shooter and have plenty of PnRs, then he needs to get off my screen.

We barely have any transition points and fast breaks because of his snail pace offense from college.

I was by no means defending Bielein. I am with you. He's a college coach using a college system that won't cut it in the NBA. He needs to adjust or he should be let go quick.

The main staff is Beilein (College Coach) Bickerstaff (I still think he was a nepotism hire) Gottlieb (College Coach). The staff seemed fun at the start. But throughout the preseason its shown to be a staff in way over its head. Beilein needs to realize the college shit don't cut it in the NBA.

Beilein is a smart guy. A very, very smart guy. He has more basketball knowledge in his left toe than any one posting has in their brain.

Give him time. If by the All-Star break our offense is still this atrocious then let's destroy him on this internet chat forum. But I feel like we're jumping the gun even earlier than Cavs fans normally do.

I reckon he will build his own team in time and he prefers to work with the guys he selected (Garland, Windler, KPJ). Well I hope so because outside of Love the rest is pretty bland.

He drafted Garland, Windler and KPJ? Cavs gave him that much power? wtf...

I gotta admit I thought the Cavs would look more cohesive by now. Injuries haven't helped. Virtually no rotational veterans have played much in the preseason.
I hope the vets buy into Beilein's system, and play like NBA players.
Or they just might wait for a trade.

There's nothing telling about the preseason; it's a joke.

For established teams with vets that had success like the Spurs, Warriors, Blazers, whatever. Sure.

For a young team that has a lot to show, nope. The losses were telling that whatever he is trying to run ain't going to work in the NBA. In no way should a team look so outclassed against 2nd round and undrafted rookies. Pre-season or not.

You need to give any coach more than a few preseason games to show whether or not he can successfully adapt to the NBA. To suggest otherwise is insanity.
