It is definitely early, but that starting lineup worked really well. They were +25.4/100 possessions and +6 overall.

My frustration is that lineup, along with our three other net positive lineups, only played 27.4 minutes. We had lineups that were working and Beilein went away from them to experiment.

With that said, it is obviously early enough where this is all statistical noise. I will be interested in seeing how much Belein plays positive lineups versus experimenting.

The bench unit sucked ass. That was the problem.

He played twelve different lineups. That's not a good strategy over the long-term. It adds too much uncertainty and hinders development.

If you are a team whose goal is to compete for the title, I totally get testing out a ton of different lineups, but I think the Cavs should focus on around eight different lineups getting time: starters, first/third quarter subs, second/fourth quarter subs, and a lineup with all of your most positive players. Then the other lineups are transitions to those big four.

Yeah for sure. It did seem obvious that the starting group looked good and moved the ball etc.

He explicitly said he would be searching for lineups before the game. I doubt he plays 12 lineups regularly. He was also basically forced to play Nance and TT together.

End of the 3rd quarter was disjointed and then it cam e back together at the end of the 4th. I think Beilein is struggling with that extra few minutes or something. Strangely, I felt like he got guys out at the right time, but then didn't get them back in correctly.

It is only one game - he is still experimenting. Still it was great our starting group played well and moved a lot.

Huge difference in how Beilein talked about getting the game ball for his first NBA win versus how Blatt responded with his. Was very appreciative of it and talked about how it will have a special place in his home.

You can also see a warmth with the players. His interactions during the game are encouraging. It seems like there's a lot of mutual respect. I don't think that has existed with the Cavs coaching staff for a very long time. Beilein may be able to foster a healthy culture. That will make teaching and growth so much easier. You could see the positive encouragement on the sideline with him.

Very different from Blatt who seemed taken aback that it was a big deal. Beilein understands the significance. He knows the NBA is a different game. I'm very encouraged by what I am seeing. The players and coaches seem to be taking to each other. We've had years of there being a clear disconnect between players and coaches. Hope this continues because it is refreshing.

It really seems like that if the cavs stay healthy, they have a shot at being a 30 win team. When the ball was moving on offense, they had a nice flow. Obviously, health is huge though. But damned if this team actually has an offensive system finally.

This whole coaching staff right now exudes competence. It starts at the top. Listening to Beilein's presser, it's clear how he listens to players, asks questions, trusts his staff and the players, and encourages. He knows the game but he does not seem dead set on an approach, though he's also not shy about challenging players to be better. Seems like he challenged Tristan to play around the rim more, to be the last line of defense - and it is paying dividends. Tristan has bought in - and I think the way Beilein respects the players and interacts with them has a lot to do with it.

Beilein developed a rep at Michigan of doing more with less and turning middling recruits into quality players. Hopefully the early positive signs continue. I still don't expect a ton of wins, but I think they will stay in a lot of games and continue to be a lot of fun to watch.

Everything seems good. Defense has holes, but is obviously far removed from last year's hopelessness. Mostly guys missing assignments or Garland getting overpowered.

Offense isn't clicking all the time and the younger guys are less comfortable so far, but there is a lot of confidence from this team. Lots of easy mistakes to clean up.

They will be in a lot games if they continue to play like this. Love and TT are absolutely killing it. Unreal. Exactly what young guards need.

Echoing a lot of what peeps are saying here. The team is largely running the system- as designed -especially early in the game. Is it perfect? No. But it’s a flawed roster, obviously. There were some sequences that had me irate. TT and Love being the only guys to touch the ball past half court a few times...but it worked somehow most of the time?

They’re buying in and will continue to if we keep winning. Hell, even Clarkson was behaving himself today.
