So Long Jordan Clarkson ( aka Chucky McJumperson)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel noticed that when Sexton is in the game and they are going to give the ball to Clarkson that they have Sexton dribble the clock down to under 10 seconds and then give the ball to Clarkson.

I'm not sure what exactly is the reasoning but I assume it's to keep Clarkson from jacking up bad shots early in the clock. I also noticed Clarkson tends to get more one on one looks than if he gets the ball earlier in the shot clock.

This is a really good point. If Sexton draws just a little attention, Jordan is very good at getting by the intiatial defender. Jordans dribbling in circles does give more opportunity for turnovers.

Jordan has been playing well . We have actually seem him settle down before playing with certain guys . Jose and others. The best thing the past few games is he looked pretty good with Sexton .

Dropping it to the big or the corner is all Jordan needs to do passing wise.

Have to say last couple games really like the way he’s playing, passing the ball well still not great defensively but he’s making the effort

Game 7, 2016 Finals
I'm as down on JR as anybody but he did have that epic Game 5 in the 2017 Finals; one of the only guys who showed up that game.

That said, he never came close to putting together a stretch of basketball that justified that contract. Not one.

He's been playing better. I see him as a contributing player on a contender. Just right now he's seen as a chucker because he is, and sometimes those shots don't go in. For a contender he'd have open 3s which is reasonably good at hitting at. I like him for this team as a role off the bench, and I agree with the posters who say he shouldn't play with Sexton, yet.

I think he is the type of player who gets lost as the level goes up. Because he lacks decision making, a good understanding of the game and good defence. His shortcomings will be highlighted in play-off games. And he won't shoot or score as well once the pressure is up. I will be very happy if some contender takes him, but I think it is unlikely and in fact he is best suited for a team like Cavs.

Pretty obvious when he was gameplanned for in the playoffs and in this past wolves game. HE is pretty good at navigating the floor and getting to his spots, but if they pay attention to him and even just double or triple him, he will make some bad decisions.

Yep, and he doesn’t seem to understand this and ends up forcing bad shots which lead to easy fast break points on the other side. He looks pretty terrible on defense not sure about the exact numbers but commits a lot of dumb fouls and seems like opponents game plan is too attack him.

Why does Clarkson get an endless leash on offense? He needed 22 shots to get 20 points and made a couple boneheaded turnovers. He is the textbook definition of inefficient stat padder on a bad team.

Clarkson's game makes my eyes bleed, but here's some thoughts--

1) A Pro-basketball team will take ~100 shots a game these days. Since it seems like no one on the team can throw a decent post entry pass, no one can get to the hoop and no one has enough "gravity" in the paint to create open threes, someone has to attempt a bunch of bad shots. It's hard to say that anyone else on the team would shoot a better percentage when there's no open look.

2) The two highest usage players are Clarkson & Sexton. Clarkson shoots bricks, but he still makes shots at a higher rate than Sexton. Sexton should really be working on learning how to run a pro offense right now, so it might make sense to let Clarkson keep shooting while Sexton focuses on learning. It would be nice if Clarkson learned to pass too, but that just might not be happening.

3) With a bit of luck, the team could get "Kobe assists" out of Clarkson's bricks. However the Cavs team has not had much luck there. Cavs have a lower offensive rebound % and a lower offensive efficiency when Clarkson is on the floor.

4) Cavs would absolutely love to trade Clarkson. Hard to trade a guy that isn't playing.

Are you sure? I hope you're right but it seemed like they were talking him up last season as a future piece.

I think there has got to be a reason Fred and SC gush over him all the time. It's not because he is in future plans.

My favorite play this season was Clarkson pulling a Harlem Globetrotter routine where he dribbled around a defender twice in the post before reluctantly dumping the ball off to TT.

Help defenders have no need to stay home with Clarkson on the ball so I'm guessing three opposition players are waiting under the rim as the two other player contest his shot.
