Because some teams might think beyond the impact of a player in his rookie season only.

Shocking, I know.
And some teams never make it beyond last place.

Shocking, I know.

I hated the Erving pick, personally. I understood why they did it, but I didn't like it.

Josh McCown will be the best QB this team has ever had named McCown. If he is not turnover prone and takes care of the ball then the Browns should do fine. Hoyer showed that you can win games when you don't turn it over but you start to lose once you do turn it over. The short receivers help here, as McCown will then be forced to throw every pass on a downward plane, thus increasing the chance that errant throws go into the ground instead of sailing into the defenses' hands.

So what? Mack is here this season. Take Nelson Agholor (which the Browns almost did) where you took Cameron Erving and take a center where you took Vince Mayle. If he ends up not working out and Mack leaves, take another center next year.
We probably should have taken a WR that runs a 4.4 and had him play nose tackle. Some guy on this board was talking about the importance of a speedy nose tackle in another discussion.

Someone suggested Usain Bolt be the nose tackle. Is that what you mean?

Hey, this guy is a starting quarterback for the Browns! We have like four days until he plays the best defense in the NFL, so let's get all the positive comments out of our system.

Best passing game in Browns history, yada, yada, yada...

It's going to be a rough tangle with them pesky Broncos. I'm not sure if any of you are NFL history buffs, but before you look up the 1980s, I got a spoiler alert for you:

They own Cleveland's testicles, and keep them in a mason jar on John Elway's executive desk.

My prediction is a 20 point loss this week. Prove me wrong, Josh.

Ironically, the Browns have somewhat owned Peyton Manning statistically throughout his career.

The Browns are the only team against which he's thrown more INT than touchdowns.

Talk about your statistical anomalies.

Peyton probably doesn't even bother studying film before a Browns game. :chuckle:

He clearly plays down to his competition.

I'm just going to assume that TJ Ward is totally the weak link in that defense. Has to be.

The Broncos offense has been butt nasty without Adam Gase, but that defense has been the real deal. I remember a few people jumping on my case this preseason because I criticize Farmer for letting players go in their prime over the cap hit in order to acquire veterans past their prime...

McCown is breaking Browns records and this thread is practically silent. We're a tough crowd. I guess when he holds out for $94mil we'll get more activity in here.
