JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think we can be 100% sure that JR accepts that player option.

If for no other reason, than this huge one. This offseason teams will be HOARDING money for the 2016 offseason. Then, once the big stars are off the market in the 2016 offseason, all the other guys left over will get way inflated contracts. JR is unlikely to opt out for that reason alone. he and every other NBA player will want to be a FA in 2016

This deal definitely has a lot of wrinkles and flexibility to it. In what it brings on the court and off the court, short term and long term. The more I think about it, the more I like it in almost all regards.

LeBron doesn't want Blatt. JR and LeBron are tight. Cavs trade for JR. Can anyone guess how this will play out...?

He fixes the cable?

In terms of pure talent the funny thing about JR is he is on a level of few guys in the league. Almost Kobe-esque when you think about the combination of length, athleticism, and shooting ability. The guy was co-MVP along with Dwight in there McDonald's High School game. This shows you how much of a difference smarts and work ethic does for a player.

If he & LeBron are cool, something tells me he won't be a clown here.

We shall see.

He will be a clown, he will do things at times, that will drive us all flat out nutso. But, you just got to look at this way too. Never in his life, has he played with three players as talented offensively as Kyrie, Love, and LeBron.

This guy is going to get a lot of open shots, and he is a very dangerous threat when he is feeling it.

He'll take piss poor shots, much like Dion, but just play the Dion role better at least.

I've always liked J.R.'s talent - he has it all, deep range, athleticism, passing skill, dribble drive skills. He can also play off the ball. We all know his weaknesses at this point.

It might be delusional (this many years a guy is probably what he is) but I really think he could flourish here and start to play the game the right way given how much respect he has for LBJ.

If you want to get as unexcited as possible this deal trades an undersized 2 guard for 2 perfectly sized wings and somehow a first.

The talent is there. No doubt. I'm just worried about Blatt not knowing what to do with him. The dude is going to be really thrown off by Blatt's random hockey substitutions and lack of consistent minutes along with this "offense" if that's what you want to call it.

JR Smith is the same immature knucklehead that he's always been. He was just in LA getting in fist fights with people at the club 5 days ago on new years. Go to 8:23 in this video.

JR Smith has been with a couple dumpster-fire teams. I don't think he is going to be too put off playing with the Cavs.

I'm expecting good things from J R. He was 6th man of the year on a Knicks team with 50+ wins. He goes from a terrible Knicks team to a Lebron lead contender. We can't underestimate what playing on a terrible team does to a player. Good trade, optimistic about this team again.

I have to admit, I have loved watching Smith play over the years.... for other teams. I couldn't stand Waiters. I couldn't stand Hughes. It's pretty obvious I am going to hate this man. :chuckle:

JR is the throw in. Griff has like Shump for a while as there have always been rumblings. He is a classic buy low player who might be a difference maker in a game or 2. AMC, point about consolidating him and heywood is really important. 16 million is a lot of talent at the 5 spot if someone wants out of a situation. Or to add a few pieces from a rebuilding team that does know it this season (denver)

Funny how if anyone had said "let's get JR Smith" on this board 24 hours ago they'd have been neg repped to death.

Mob mentality says now that JR Smith has upside.

Lol.....
