JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
JR and Henson for Adams (and pick(s)) works and would get OKC close enough to the tax line that one more minor move or stretch gets them under the line.

What combo of picks it take for Gilbert to swallow that tax bill and would OKC be willing to pony up to meet that price?

I think OKC will looking to move Adams and probably alot of their roster if they decide to keep Westbrook. If they move Westbrook, I think they just keep Adams and wait for his contract to expire. Adams can be useful on a developing team as a defensive anchor.

I could see Presti doing a big multi team trade using some of those picks and maybe SGA to build an actual team designed around Westbrook. I think the Cavs could bring in some of those pieces and take back player from OKC or other teams. Love and TT would make sense around Westbrook. Adams could go to a 3rd team.

Okc isn’t attaching picks to move Adams. He’s too good.

Just from a roster building stand point, it's hard to build a contender with a contract as big as Adams is. He is a good player but he is overpaid.

I don't think they attach a pick to move Adams on his own. I think Adams will be used to get a better player and they will use a pick or two to get that player. I think Adams contract will be seen as a neutral contract in a trade. If they don't try to build around Westbrook, my guess they hold on to Adams and let him be a defensive anchor to allow whatever young players they have grow and develop on both sides of the ball. They will just eat his salary for a couple years until he is an expiring and someone will pay for both him and his contract.

If you get Adams in a trade, the hope would be to flip him at the deadline to a playoff team. That's where you'd get your picks. Not sure it's something Koby would really consider.

So we trade Garland, Picks, Lose our first round pick this year, all so we can be the 7th seed at best and get swept in the first round? Sounds smart.....

Or less, if they're just giving him away. Westbrook and Love is better than spending years rebuilding only to rebuild again and again and again for decades until the team gets lucky enough to land the #1 pick in a year when a generational talent is available.

Westbrook and Love don't get out of the first round. So explain to me how this is better?

At least the Cavs make the playoffs. Cleveland is never winning a championship again, might as well win what we can. I think Westbrick can get the Cavs out of the 1st round in the East.

You ever seen Westbrook in the playoffs? He ain't getting anyone out of the first round of the playoffs in any conference. Hes already an inefficient chucker in the regular season. Once the playoffs start hes somehow even dumber, takes even worse shots. You don't go all in on a player that can't get you out of the first round. It makes zero sense.

This is the downside. They have to be realistic about a WB as his contract balloons up to 40-some Million at the end. It’s negative equity. If they’re will to do it for JR, TT, Clarkson and a lottery protected first rounder, why the hell not.

TT should have a little value at the trade deadline, it’s he expiring?

Not even sure I would throw in a first for Westbrook. Westbrook ensures 1 thing which is our first conveying to the Pelicans.

Trust me, it would not take a first. If someone would take his contract for straight up expiring money, I think they’d call it even Steven and pounce.

However, we are in no position to be taking on that money and that player. Wrong fit at the wrong time.
