If they really want him its as simple as James Johnson and Dwight Powell.

If they could do that and just buy out Drummond, they could have significant cap space in the summer(not saying there is an obvious FA fit for us though)

Drummond apparently doesn't want a buy out. He wants to retain his bird rights because he thinks he can get more then MLE if used in a sign and trade. Also letting him expire would serve the same purpose as buying him out if we just renounce his rights.

Dwight powell is a multi-year contract. If we are clearing cap space, powell shouldn't be in that deal.

You still clear 20M in cap space for the following two seasons doing that deal.

It is almost impossible to find a deal to trade Love. If you find one that saves 20M per year and open up some cap flexibility for the next few summers, you jump on it.

You’re not going to find a deal for Love that involves only expiring contracts without having to throw in sweetener picks to the team trading for him.

My guess is they want to rid themselves of an injured Zingis and his awful contract, not give up expiring money.

After all, having Porzingis and Love on the same team makes absolutely no sense given their contracts and injury histories.

Perhaps they could be after Love and Drummond? Not sure how you make that work though and I wouldn’t be super eager to take on Porzingis.

They probably wouldn’t mind moving off zinger. But it wouldn’t be for love and or Drummond. There would have to be picks attached. Or even Sexton/garland plus picks.

He is right, he is 26, plenty of time to ring chase, no reason to give up money or options. Someone probably will over pay, i am just glad its not the cavs.

Dwight Powell also has a torn achilles so that is a toxic contract.

The thing is they want a stretch 4 to pair with Luka and Porzingus! I would love to get Hardaway Jr

I said somewhere else, there's not a "bad" contract on that team. They could put anything together for Love and I'd help everyone pack and move.
