I prefer this way to out and out tanking. I don't prefer Love tho. Every journalist is saying he nuked Beilein immediately and is setting a bad example. Even if the Coach "deserved" it I feel this way.

I really wonder if that all stemmed from Beilein reportedly chewing out veteran players who were just trying to show the rookies where they were supposed to be on a given play. It's not quite the same thing, but I can just imagine if I, as a new Lt., had publicly chewed out my platoon sergeant or squad leaders who were trying to show younger Marines how to do something. My guess is that I'd have absolutely lost them then and there. Humiliating your subordinate leadership publicly is just about the worst thing you can do as a leader.

The shortened rotation due to injuries is definitely killing the defense at the end of quarters. It's frustrating because the Cavs played Boston so we'll defensively for long stretches, only to see Boston go on runs at the end of quarters when the core vets looked gassed.

Something I noticed while playing around with advanced stats on NBA.com: Since the start of February, Love and Anthony Davis have the exact same EFG% at 56.4. Even more impressive - Nance is among All Stars with 57.7% with Collin Sexton checking in at 57.0%. The high usage core of this team is having a great offensive run, they just aren't getting much support.

It is that putting his hands up on defense thing. He is out of practice, unfamiliar use of muscle.
Next thing you know he'll be moving his feet.

Just kidding, I'm pretty sure he leads the team in taking charges.

He's got his 3-point stroke locked in. Ten for his last 18. Now if he's open anywhere near the line he puts it up.

A lot of Cavs fans thought he'd be done for the year by now, but he's playing better then ever.

He was guarding SF's in that lineup with Nance and TT. I think people make a big deal about the stop, but staying in front of guys on the perimeter Love is good at. It is contesting at the rim that he is not. He rarely gets his hands up to contest. He likes to rebound the missed shot.

Yes, this exactly. His lateral movement improved a lot after coming to Cleveland, so he's better defensively on the perimeter than many realize -- but he has never, ever contested interior shots much. He will almost always go to box out a nearby guy instead.

Kevin had a really good game and he played hard. One of those where you could tell he had fun.

It isn't rocket surgery: Delly got Love involved early and Love played his ass off... just like everyone else. This is what is so hard about breaking in a new point guard.... play Delly to get them all touches, and everyone plays harder, and life is easier for Garland at the end of the year.

Beilein should have started Dellvadova at the beginning and have Garland on the bench...imo

Nothing wrong with it but the offense is running much smoother with Dellvadova at the point.

Hindsight being 20/20.

If the goal was to win more games, this might be a true statement, but it was not the goal.. The goal was to develop our rookie asset as fast as possible and evaluate what we have going into our next draft. I think we know the answer at this point.

What we are seeing in these games that we actually compete in, is a serious defensive effort, and enough offensive options, that most other team can't simply shut down.. Last night we kept Denver from scoring at all between 7:30 minutes remaining to about 2:30 remaining, while we took and padded a lead. Love scored most of our points in that period, which is because he is hard to stop.

I think this game is more of a statement around Denver than us really though. If our guys can clamp Denver, either LA team can do it better, when they try..

I think this also underscores the value of a player like Zion, or LeBron, or a Giannis, in that when they want to score, there aren't many players with the physical strength and or defensive IQ to stop them..

Over his last four games Love is averaging 24 and 10 while shooting 53.4% from the field and 47.2% on 3's. With the injuries he's playing 32-37 minutes. I wonder if any team's are wishing they traded for him last month.

Tristan really neutralized Jokic. I'll take 8 assists and 8 points.

I like the way our vets are playing. I think its fine to let the dogs out these last 20 games, and see what they can do. I still think we need a long athletic wing, but then who doesn't?
