Love was awesome this year and I'd love to find a way to move him that is beneficial for the Cavs and for Kevin, but moving him in the first place is going to be hard. 30m is a fat chunk of change and I don't see teams lining up to acquire Kevin for that. We may be able to break that into smaller contracts, but its difficult.. The other option is to either eat a terrible contract (Russ, Wall) but that would limit our own financial flexibility in the future. I also dont see any assets the Lakers have that I really want (maybe 27 29 firsts?) and Houston won't give us the things I would (Garuba, Sengun). I also want Russ no where near a Cavs uniform.
Just to throw it out there, but two options I could see are trading with Philly for Tobi and Tor for Pascal. For Tobi, his contract is pretty bad, but Tobi is not a bad player at all as a borderline all-star level guy who would thrive as a 4th option with the Cavs. Pascal is also a bit overpaid, but he is a higher caliber player so would probably cost more assets (Okoro, a couple firsts, Windler?).
If we are unable to move him, I am also fine with letting his contract expire and trying to do something with the capspace in 2023 (like make a move at a certain forward from Los Angles, welcome Norman Powell). I think his game will age well into a 10th man type, so bringing him back in 24 and 25 on like 5m seems reasonable to me.
