Whoops. Boston may have other ideas about that.

One thing I've noticed is Love has been less effective as the playoffs have gone on (kind of like in his Cavs days, amirite?). His lack of defense is really getting exposed the deeper Miami gets. Spo had to yank him after the first five minutes last night because he was wanting to do his usual thing of paint-camping instead of closing out on Boston's shooters. Of course he gets beaten on PnRs too. He couldn't do anything until the 4th when the C's started to put in their bum unit, and even then, Love basically just got garbage buckets.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spo benches him in game six for Highsmith, who may be smaller, but did much better against the Celtics.

If the Heat do avoid the worst collapse in playoff history and advance to play Denver in the NBA Finals, I think that will be a bad matchup for Love as well because of Jokic's passing and Love's inability to cover ground on the defensive rotations. Spo probably won't completely cut Love out of the rotation like JBB did, but I can see his minutes and spots getting further reduction from here on out.

We lighting torches and collecting pitchforks to come for Spoelstra for not playing Love, or nah?

Is that a yes, or no?
Of course not.

It's a totally different context.

That's why no one is looking for pitchforks.

If you think JBB not playing Love in the regular season is the exact same thing as Spo not playing him in the last two games of the ECF, I don't think you'll find many people who agree with that.

Who said, "the exact same thing"? Spoelstra is saying Love isn't helpful when games count most. People were berating JBB, Koby, and anyone associated with the franchise for saying the same.

Let me explain this to you again.

JBB had completely stopped playing Love in the regular season.

Spo played Love in the regular season, the first round, the second round, and most of the ECF.

What about this do you not understand?

Spo's Heat are in the ECF. They beat the team the Cavs LOST to en route. They may even make the Finals.

He played Kevin Love more than JBB. He simply decided, and rightly so, that Love wasn't a good matchup for Boston in these last few games.

Get over it.

I think the difference between JBB and Spo is that Spo actually has shooters he can play whereas we have no role players who are shooters. I don't think Spo brought Love in for his defensive prowess... Plus he's not the best player in a zone because he can't help well. People need to stop trying to make JBB look like a good coach because he sat Love...
