As I stated elsewhere, I'm fine with the Cavs amicably moving on from Love. He's still a great shooter and defensive rebounder, but his overall lack of defense and lack of ability to play high minutes (due in part to his age) make him a less versatile option. Markk can do most of what Love does, but at a younger age. The contract does make him tough to move, so we'll see what happens. But I do expect an even lesser role next season, if he does stay put. And I understand why.
We do get to keep the resident Thunder fan right?

1. Love was unplayable in the biggest game of the season.
2. Rubio is probably retiring or playing out his career in Spain. He won't be back.
Love didn’t play as much because Lauri was on fire and both he & Mobley are better defenders. Love is a top 10 shooter in the NBA and he has a role on this team or another.

I’m surprised to see this take from you, given your username lol. Markkanen is nowhere near the player Love is, and won’t come anywhere close. And I say this as someone that likes Lauri.

Love almost directly won us 7-8 games this year, maybe more. Lauri has had some nice shooting nights, and is a decent wing defender. I don’t even really see the comparison, because both players play different positions, and one is a starter and one is now a bench player.

The fact is Love’s role off the bench even in 20 minutes is incredibly valuable. Given his salary doesn’t match up with a productive bench player, it makes more sense just to keep him because our team definitely needs what Love provides. We just need to be mindful of where and when we play him.

Of course! I live in Springfield, MO, where Garland's dad played college ball and was a local legend. Also can't help but love Mobley (21st century KG?) & Jarrett Allen (nerdy guy who plays like my 2k20 and 2k21 paint beasts/glass lockdowns).

The question isn’t whether Love is useful, but whether his expiring could be part of a significant trade for us next year…

I thought that would be a big thing at the trade deadline if things are not looking good for the Cavs.

There not a GM out there that would take Love TODAY over Markkanen, and I’m talking about everything being equal, Yes When left open Love is a better shooter and defense rebounder , that where it stops, I like what Love gave us this year, and appreciate everything about that, but man he was pretty much unplayable on Defense , I would love for LM play the Love role next year, and find a 3D small forward either through the draft or trade……

Love is somewhat unique in that he can help a contender clear cap space while providing on-court value.

Of course We, as a contender, may be inclined to utilize that value ourselves.

I been thinking about this for about couple weeks, not sure if the Sixers would do this , and I’m not sure some of you guys would do it on the Cavs Side of it, Tobias Harris is owe 37 and 38m after this year , they going to have to pay Harden a zillion dollar in the off-season, would you trade Love and Cedi for Tobias and Milton …..Why Sixers do it, get from out of Tobias last 2 years of his contract while paying Harden nearly 50M and Maxey contract is around the corner, Love and Cedi would be expire contracts …..Why Cavs… we get 3D small forward and backup PG for taking on Tobias 2nd year of his contract and that would put LM into Loves role….

Love the idea, but the sixers would need more. Harris is too big of a part of their success to be a salary dump type deal.

More like love, cedi and a future protected 1st for harris.

That would add 2 needed pieces - a shooting small forward and a backup pg with size. It might be worth adding a future 1st rounder that hopefully would be in the 20+ range

1. No to Tobias Harris
2. I believe the Sixers already tried engaging us in a "Harris for Love" swap and we flatly rejected it...

Kinda surprised people want to move on from Love when he was easily in our top 5 highest performing players this year. Run it back with him again off the bench.
I'm indifferent, the front office should just do whatever is best for the team both short term and long term. I assume they'll evaluate it like they did last year. There were absolutely no takers for KLove's contract in recent years and the Cavs certainly tested those waters. I don't think any other team will be interested in him during this offseason either so I assume he'll be a part of the plans to open the season. But come trade deadline, there is a possibility that the dollars on Love's contract could be part of a bigger deal, and if that happens I wouldn't let sentimental value block a potential trade to improve the overall team talent over the longer term, or to improve our chances to go deeper into the playoffs. Chances are in a trade deadline move Love could bounce back to us after a buy-out anyhow as his contract would be already mostly paid and soon to expire.

Just wanted to compliment Kevin Love for being an outstanding and mature professional on this team this season…

Obviously something happened last off season and a lightbulb went off in this dude’s head…

The young guys were very lucky to have a vet like this on the roster this past season… And it’s great that Love was able to make the fans embrace his position as an all time Cavalier…. He gets a jersey in the rafters in a few years…. Well done!
