Especially when Colangelo is going to get blamed if the USA doesn't win gold.
Yup, I get why he's high-strung and defensive, but if Kevin Love not working out is the reason why we don't win gold............

I want to build Kevin Love a statue out front of the Q. I want to be reminded of the boat anchor that made 1 play in the Finals to secure our championship.

He made 100 million off of one defensive play, because the rest of his career in Cleveland sucked.

He deserves a statue.

This “Kevin lied to Colangelo” story is nonsense. Kevin was invited to the USA basketball camp. If Colangelo, Pops, Kerr, Jay Wright and company thought that Kevin was out of shape and couldn’t play then why did they name him to the 12 man squad?? They had other options, and it was obvious to many other people on the outside that Kevin wasn’t the best option for the 12th slot because they said so at the time.

Colangelo is full of shit. Somebody at USA basketball decided to put Love on the team. Colangelo runs USA basketball, so he’s responsible. Utterly classless to trash Kevin, and also stupid because it’s obvious he’s trying to deflect blame for this shitshow. Kevin offered to help out when others decided not to join the team. Colangelo didn’t have to accept the offer, and he didn’t have to put Love on the initial 12 man roster. This is 100% on Colangelo and zero % on Love.

I bet Steph Curry checks inside his shirt every time he puts one on to make sure Kevin Love ain’t in it….

I dunno, I don't get the impression that Love did anything so egregious that he deserves to be called out by name like that, and I don't see the point in kicking him like that when he's down. Colangelo sounds like a whiny bitch in that article. He also complains about unnamed players not being able to play, whether it was their teams not wanting them to play, or the players themselves backing out.

How difficult is Jerry's job, anyway? I'm sure it's not as simple as it seems, but is anything that he's done during his time there really that noteworthy? I get that he's in tough spot because we're always expected to win, but what exactly is it that he does?
How many KLove instances can we cite with him doing some bullshit the past 5+ years to piss teammates off? He's an ornery guy.

Congratulations to Old Fart Colangelo for proving two people are correct.

Jalen Rose trashed the Love selection. While I doubt it was because Love is white (Colangelo, Pops, Kerr and Jay Wright are racists?) there was a lot of evidence he was not good enough.

Allen Iverson ridiculed the importance of practice. Well it’s obvious practice was worthless for Team USA because they couldn’t even figure out Love is washed. It wasn’t until they played games and Love died out there every day that the brain trust realized Kevin isn‘t healthy enough to play for Iran.

Yet they selected him for the initial team anyway.

The bullshit inbounds play was all over the media. Surely Pops and Kerr at least heard about it.

Kevin is washed up but USA basketball were idiots to select him.

In fairness to Pops and Kerr it’s not like they have a lot of Basketball Championship experience as coaches or players. They’re relatively new and inexperienced so it’s a tough ask for them to figure out a player isn’t playing well.

This team is not that strong and still might win the Gold but let’s face it this not the overwhelming dominant teams that people are used to seeing. It’s a bunch of shooting guards and role players.

This is true (see the below quotes), but to me it doesn't change the fact that Love was handed an opportunity (word is that KD wanted him) to contribute to meaningful basketball, and showed up woefully out of shape. As a Cavs fans, that's what disappoints me. I agree that his value is shot so I didn't have much expectations, but at a bare minimum I wanted him to get some momentum going into what could be a fun season for the Cavs.

Yea

Yeah...I didn't like Kevin Love, but this whole thing makes me not like Colangelo more.

I’ve pounded the drum about how a buyout doesn’t benefit us at all, but it sure sounds like it’s a very real possibility.
Yeah get this stinker out of here. He's tying down the new Cavs like an old rusty anchor with his attitude towards the game of basketball.
