I’m sure Kevin won’t mind not playing while still getting his gold. He’s been okay with it for 3 years. Ideal, really.

Also, I didn’t read the article
it's basically that.
Also that Kevin can't be traded because (shockingly) his contract is viewed as shitty around the NBA. And also that Kev doesn't seem in line for a buy out since he has another year on said shitty contract. Lloyd opines that Kev should come off the bench if healthy so Mobley and other young guys can get minutes.

He would recoup some or all of that money signing with a new team of his choosing to chase a ring while riding a bike in the tunnel.

He isnt getting a dime over vet min. I believe its 2.5. If he thinks he can play 2 more years if cut, thats 5 million, but he might not get a 2nd min contract the way he has been looking.

He will be here next year imo. Ben says different and he has better sources, just dont see why we buy him out, and i dont see why he takes more than a 5 million haircut off the 61 million.

The way I see it...if Love wants out, he'll have to give up something....negotiation (I know you know this). Otherwise, he is more than welcome to sit on his ass for two years.

I'm absolutely done with him atm...but he can salvage his reputation. That is on him 100%....and if he wants to join some buddies elsewhere...he damn sure better agree to something more than a $5 mil haircut.

Obviously Love is a shit contract at $30M/year --- but there are a lot of teams with MLE's out there - and somebody would give him MLE-type money.

He's a former multi-time All-star who has been injured the past two seasons. In 2019-2020, he was still pretty efficient (by every available metric) when he played.

Now - if he decides he has to go to a specific team (Lakers/Nets etc.) -- then yes, he is only getting Vet min. Lots of players are making that choice. If he decides he wants to play for a playoff team, then he can get MLE.

Love can sit at the end of the bench, pouting and counting his millions, for all I care. He’s the poster child for why contracts shouldn’t be guaranteed IMO. Of course the owners will never get the union to agree to that.

Why would any team who watched him play late last season or in the Olympic exhibitions pay him MLE? He sucked.

If he could actually get the MLE he'd take the buyout with the discount and be gone like your last paycheck.

I think you are overstating it. He actually had a positive OBPM and VORP last year. In 2019/2020 his VORP/minutes played was actually higher than the 2016/2017 season.

Love is a player who always fails the eye test. He is sometimes painful to watch when he's playing at an All NBA level -- he is often painful to watch when playing at an MLE level.

Is he worth $30M? Not even close -- but he is definitely worth the taxpayer MLE if healthy. I don't know if he'll get that -- if he wants to chase rings (LAL/BKN/MKE) he would have to accept the vet min.

If Loves cares one bit about still playing basketball he'll be very willing to give back 12 million. He'll get at least half of that back plus he gets to choose who to play with. Just not sure he's cares about the game anymore.

Honestly was hoping KLove would have played in Olympics and boosted his value enough to get a team interested. Not so much to trade for him as he isn’t worth 30 million.

However at least to get a 5-7 million part of MLE type offer. Would make him giving up a decent chunk of millions much more realistic.

Exactly. If he had any interest in getting back in shape and playing ball with a contender he would take a $12-15 mil buyout like Kemba just did. Unfortunately Kevin seems happy enough living his best life.. he wouldn't even try to get in shape when given the opportunity to represent the country in the Olympics. That pretty much tells ya all you need to know about current KLove.

I think Love cares about the game. Otherwise he wouldn’t have even attempted to play in the Olympics! Sometimes the mind is willing but body isn’t. I think Love would welcome a buyout if the Cavs broached the situation. Love also knows there are at least three teams (Portland, Dallas and Indiana) that would look at signing him as a free agent and give him a shot at the playoffs again.
