Not impossible to trade at the deadline if he plays well. Hope Dean is playing back to backs for him

Not impossible, but also probably not likely, especially when Love will be playing less than 20 minutes per game. Realistically, we’re gonna have to wait until he’s in the last year of his contract for him to have any trade value whatsoever

This season is Kevin Love auditioning for the role he wants with a contender.

I've been a fan of Love the fourth big for the Cavs over Love the fourth big for a contender... with the Cavs paying his salary. His preseason is very encouraging because other players he shares the court with are also able to pass as well as finish in the half-court.

I seriously doubt anyone is trading for him without us taking back a worse contract. No matter how well he plays. No one trusts his health. He can look like prime 2010 Kevin love and he’d still be an injury ticking time bomb.

I could see an expiring and smaller bad contract, which I would be in favor of

I have no interest in a buyout is all. May as well get as much out of him off the bench as possible.

He should never see 20 minutes floor time in any game of his remaining
Cavs days.

I really don't understand the immense Kevin Love hate:

+ He's not worth his contract any more.
+ He's often injured.

Those are negatives -- but they aren't *unusual* for 33 yo former All-Star level players. At this point in their career they are almost always overpaid and have a lot of mileage -- so they are injury prone. Lebron/Duncan are crazy exceptions -- there are not many impactful 33yo big men in the NBA...

Other than that - he still is an effective player when he is playing -- he seems to have accepted a bench role with few complaints. Obviously, we'll see how things go when the games get started -- but the overreaction here is ridiculous.

He’s looked pretty good in the preseason - was moving and knocking down shots from three. Also made some power moves close to the basket. Obviously he’s been hampered by injuries and he’s no alpha dog but he is a very good basketball player. If we can get 18 good minutes a game from him that’s a big plus, and against second units he should do well.

Honestly, as a single guy, all I want is 18 good minutes of Love too.

I don't disagree with this. I do think the hope was that this would be the beginning of the bad part of the contract and not the "only chance to get any value out it" phase.

The part of the contract that was going to worth it was the last 3 years where he was barely available.

Love is strictly a one way player these days. He can still be valuable on offense, in short spurts, when there's a favorable matchup.

But on defense... he's done. D.O.N.E.

When he closes out someone on the perimeter and tries to stop, he looks like my 75 year old dad coming down the stairs and accidentally gathering a bit too much speed. He needs a freaking runway to slow down.

It's painful.

Love's NBA role from now is basically a spot up shooter.
