Kevin Love Trade Ideas

Too bad PG wants to be a Laker

He would be welcomed here with open arms

Bird wasn't as athletic as Jordan but let's at least all agree that he was a hell of a lot more athletic than KLove.

I agree with Tornicade that his athleticism gets underestimated. Frankly I think he was more athletic than Magic, although Magic seemed physically stronger.

I think we can convince him to join us. He is pretty tight with Bron. And, considering he has yet to be in NBA Finals, nevermind winning one, he would love the chance to be with a genuine contender. LA might be his hometown but Lakers are years apart before they are contenders. And, even then it won't be for the next 5 odd years which would be PG's peak.

The issue is, can we muster up a deal that Bird would accept for PG?

Love + Shump + Picks is the best we can provide, really. Or we do some sort of 3-team trade.

3-team trade; gotta get 'Melo wrapped up into this, somehow. Every K-Love trade idea requires it.

Plus, it's cheaper to knock up strippers in Indianapolis than NYC, so 'Melo would automatically be in a better situation.

Are you sure he wants to be a Laker? Or does he want to be on a winner? I've heard the latter. Tons of speculation at this point, never came from George's mouth or any reliable source.

I think the guy who would like to be a Cav is probably Jimmy Butler...but his contract isn't up for two more years, and until he is a FA Boston has more to offer than we do.

Would love to see Butler on our team though, even for KLove. Would be a major defensive upgrade for us, actually not so sure how much it improves us on offense but on net it would be a step up.

We would be sacrificing rebounding and LeBron would have to make the full-time move to PF, but it would make us a much more balanced and deadly team.

Not only is Butler an elite defender, but he's a true gamer. This regular season ennui which results in the Cavs' collectively playing like dogshit wouldn't effect Butler, since he brings it each and every night. He alone would probably result in another 5-10 wins. Opponents couldn't switch against us because they'd be dealing with lock-down defense from LeBron or Butler.

GarPax are morons, and I really do think they'd seriously entertain Love + filler for Butler, who has vocally opposed the coach and organization. If we seriously underwhelm this postseason I think earnest talks will be had.

Butler is also a solid rebounder for his position, although he's not Love.

Even if we do well this postseason I'd like to see us explore that trade

In all honesty, I'd trade either Love or Kyrie if we're getting Butler or George in return. Would probably prefer Butler, but either would be tremendous. Assuming it takes Kyrie to get Butler or George.

It'd be interesting to see how things play out if you make a move like that. I think if you trade Kyrie for Butler or George, you probably make a second move involving Love, no? The question then becomes what can you get in return for Love and what do you need to get in order to make LBJ and Butler work together?

Love for Gallinari and Plumlee? Not sure if that's fair value, but that "small ball" lineup of Shump, Butler, Gallinari, James, and Thompson would be an absolute fucking terror defensively. You'd have to add a PG somehow, probably by trading JR (or Shump) but that shouldn't be a big issue.

Would you roll the dice on Ben Simmons and Philly's 1st for Love? Would create a big trade exception plus a high 1st that you could turn around and use to acquire a vet PG.

Not sure why trading one of Love/Kyrie would make it more likely to trade the other. I'd argue the opposite. If you're adding a top perimeter defender, it makes Kyrie and/or Love that much more valuable.

We should have traded KLove for KOlynyk... chuckle.... seriously though, there was a time when the Cavs was weighing between him and LMA, good thing they went the KLove route... he's a much better fit to the team and better rebounder compared to Aldridge...

I wouldn't trade Kyrie for someone like Butler. Only let go of Kyrie for a super-elite young player, because that's what he is.

I ignore this thread for so long, but it always sucks me back in like a horrible car wreck.

Oh well, I will ignore it again for another month.
