Trading Kevin Love makes sense from a tanking standpoint, and because it's very possible he declines his player option and signs elsewhere.

With interest from playoff teams likely to increase as the deadline approaches, let's go over some Kevin Love deals that could make our future brighter. Just think of the trade ideas as a framework. Salaries may not match, and picks maybe should be involved. There are certainly arguments for or against these trades from either teams' perspective. Please post your own ideas.

Teams that may be interested (in no particular order):
1. Phoenix
They were interested in Kevin before. A lot of losing has been taking place in Phoenix. Looking to turn things around with a Ayton and a Devin Booker extension, they may still be interested in Love. I would assume they are still reluctant to trade Josh Jackson, but they do have both Ariza and Bridges at that position now.

TRADE: Kevin Love for Tyson Chandler, Marquese Chriss, Josh Jackson

2. Toronto
With the arrival of Kawhi and the disappointment of Serge, they were certainly be interested in a win-now piece.

TRADE: They'd need to find a 3-team deal with someone that would want Serge. Or even a multi-team deal in which Lowry is given up and Schroeder comes in. Anunoby seems like the only player on Toronto that the Cavs would be interested in. Unless they're willing to deal Jonas, which is doubtful.

3. Washington
Apparently still Washington still thinks they can be good with the pickups of Dwight Howard and Jeff Green. Kevin Love is a win-now piece at their weakest position - unless they think Porter/Green/Oubre are fine as the stretch 4's.

TRADE: Kevin Love for Otto Porter

4. Indiana
Also in win-now mode. They have a lot of expiring contracts. If they feel like Young/Sabonis/Turner aren't cutting it, they may give up some young pieces/picks for Love.

TRADE: Kevin Love for Young, Sabonis

5. Minnesota
With the likelihood of Jimmy Butler leaving after this year, they might wanna go all in?

TRADE: Kevin Love for Wiggins

6. Portland.
Kevin just seems like he would fit well with Lillard/McCollum/Nurkic. Portland has been looking to get over the hump.

TRADE: Kevin Love for Harkless, Leonard

7. OKC

They just need more talent. Period. Love could add much needed shooting and could add to the inside presence of Adams.

TRADE: Nothing of value here for the Cavs. Not sure how OKC could even pull a 3-team trade for Love. Maybe we can trade them Korver for their 1st round pick.

8. Utah
Another team looking to get over the hump. The future of Favors is still a question mark (as far as I know) for them. They have a young team. A lot of trade-able pieces.

TRADE: Not sure if the Cavs would be interested in anyone here besides their really young guys who are still prospects. Might have to be a 3-team trade here. Alec Burks is an expiring.

9. Philly
They see a chance to win the East. They're probably not willing to give up Saric, unfortunately.

TRADE: Kevin Love for Wilson Chandler, Jared Bayless, and Zhaire Smith

10. Dallas
Since they love DeAndre Jordan, why not the even younger Kevin Love? On paper they fit very well together, and would be good vets to put with Dennis Smith Jr and Doncic.

TRADE: Kevin Love for Harrison Barnes

Again, not saying the Cavs would be in favor of all of these trades. Same goes for the other team. I didn't post the rationale for each trade, but please give the scenario/rationale for your ideas. Include any team and why they would trade for Love.

Half of these trades are terrible. Love for Harkless and Leonard. Two terrible contracts. Yeah okay.

Would need Collins + 1st for just taking Harkless and Leonard tbqh.

@#$@# these trades.

If that is all we can get for love we might as well just let him play and get some joy from the games.

Maybe I'm in the minority but Serge, OG and a pick might do it for me.

OG is exactly the profile player you target for Love. He just turned 21 and has already proven he can be a contributor on a playoff team. Showed promise as a shooter and defender and is a nice wing athlete to pair with Sexton moving forward.

Plus their picks have added value, since it sounds like Kawhi will dick them at years' end. You could do a lot worse than the above as they blow it up and start over.

I would do Love and Korver for Turner/Leonard/Collins/Simons/Lottery protected 1.

You have got to be out of your mind to even suggest this trade. The worst contract in the league for Kevin is an automatic hang up on the call, with complete laughter on the phone from Koby. You sure that you are not a fan of Minnesota instead of the Cavs?

Don't think any of these deals work. The Cavs don't need to trade Kevin to "tank" this season, as they are. I think they win maybe somewhere in the 30s at most.

The Meyers Leonard/Mo Harkless package is also hilariously bad

Post San Antonio trade, there is an avenue there for Cleveland to deal Love to the Spurs.

CLE IN: Gasol, Walker IV, Raptors pick
SAS IN: Love

If they are assembling win now assets, it makes sense for both teams.

Spurs upgrade Gasol and get off his money, Cavs get a young player.....Raps pick on top might be a stretch but it's within the realm of possibilities IMO.

What do you guys think of the Raptor's-Spurs trade? Do we feel that what the Spurs got back for a Top 5 player will hurt what the Cavs can get for Love?

By the sounds of it (various rumors), Love and Cavs are working on an extension, but in the case that they need to trade him, did the market ceiling just get set for Love?

We would need to get rid of one of our SGs. Wouldn't we have a logjam at that position if we added Walker?

Spurs are really high on Walker. I don’t think they’d give him up for Love.

I certainly think it helps Love's value. The Spurs got an All-NBA player for Kawhi, who hasn't played in more than a year....after he publicly destroyed their negotiating position.

Love is under contract, amenable to an extension and has already shown a willingness to sacrifice to win.

There's likely polarizing opinions on him (KL) but the Spurs getting great value for an All-Star certainly doesn't hurt us in negotiations. We aren't getting a player like DD but it does signal, to me, that there is value out there for All-Stars in this type of market....where they aren't readily available and no one has cap space.

I'm sure they are....it's why teams draft players.

But the DD trade signals that the Spurs aren't starting over and Walker is a raw player.

I'd guess they are open to moving Gasol + a young asset to get better. Love would do that.

Am I saying it is likely? No but I would kick the tires.
