He said love could fill the horford role. Which was defense passing and team play. Defense isn’t loves game. So he can’t play the horford role. I didn’t say al was better than love. But that’s besides the point love isn’t the same player. He can’t move.
Fair enough on the role comparison, but you also said Al can make more of an 'impact' on the floor than Love. Only on defense would I agree. When it comes to offense and rebounds, Love is vastly superior. Fact is, when both were healthy, Love destroyed Horford: 22.6 ppg, 12.4 rpg, 1.4 stl, 1.2 blk, 23 out of 43 three pointers (better than 50%) in five games. Horford's weak 12.4 points and 4.2 rebounds weren't even close.

Nobody but you would read that and conclude that I was claiming Love would bring the same qualities to a young team that Horford does Boston

I was clearly using the comparison to say that Love does things well enough as an older all-star front court player that could be of enormous benefit to a young team on the rise. His spacing alone would do wonders for Sexton's development, for example.

But don't let your bias against Love skewer basic reading comprehension skills.

Love doesn’t finish inside better.
Getting to the line is a big part of Love's post game that your over looking. Love was all but a lock for 8 FTA per game before the Cavs. He was on pace for over 8 this year. Al struggles to get 2 FTA a game.

Sounds like a guy who is expecting to be traded, and if not now, this summer.

Trading Love for a contract and first rounder maybe the best the Cavs can get... But, at some point, he may provide more value just playing for the Cavs than if we trade him. As @JMoneyYourHoney was saying, Love does provide on court value to a guy like Sexton, or even a big like Zion.

But... if you can get multiple firsts (including one this year that looks like it'll be better than the 20th pick) in a trade for Love, then frankly, I think the Cavs have to and probably will consider it.

My problem with the Crabbe+1st offer is that Crabbe won't provide much value to the Cavs by the time they are ready to compete for the playoffs. So yeah, while the Brooklyn first is nice, I'd probably try and get at least one more real asset.

I think you need an actual long term piece for him. No one is going to give up a lottery pick for him, so yeah you need a young player with some upside or a young vet who is actually good and a pick.

I do think that if we get a guy like Zion, and Collin makes any sort of strides by next year, you have Kevin Love and he can recruit for you. There might be a possibility of getting someone else in FA. Maybe CJ Mcullum in a couple of years.

We just traded an allstar and we have seen over and over how little you get back. Unless you luck out and get an Oladipo you are screwed. May as well keep Love and see if he can be an ambassador for the city/team

Yeah, you either need a guaranteed long-term piece or more than one future first. Hell, even a first round pick in this draft, one in the draft where players can come out of high school, and a contract is a deal that I could get behind. But it has to be a deal where you really trade him to develop the future and not just to trade him.

Kevin Love is a good player. I do not think we'll be close to ready to compete next year, this team has just way too many holes, but they absolutely - if they draft correctly - could become a borderline playoff team in two years. And Love's ability to facilitate and play intelligently will help the young guys develop, thus bringing us closer to that competitive window.

Just get some type of quality compensation for him and honor him in 15 years

I’m being optimistic here, but we already have our Oladipo (Sexton?).

Supposedly the 76ers are interested in trading for Love. I would mind getting a pick from Philly and maybe take a risk on Fultz.
