why on earth would the cavs do this trade? Not your idea, but the rumored trade. TBH, I would want 10 and 12 for Love straight up.
I probably want more than that, especially if we're taking a bad contract like Batum and giving them a highly productive player that would work really well with Kemba.

The players are not named in the trade scenario. You can almost guarantee the Cavs are getting players or less burdensome contracts.

The trade I would think would work for both side is Indy trading Sabonis or Turner as the center piece for Love. They just drafted Goga. Sabonis and Turner really just don't work as a pairing. I think if they work their cap and cap holds properly, they could sign a max guy, trade for Love, then resign the players they didn't get an upgrade from in Collison or Bogdanovic.

Don't see what Portland has that we would want.

This is exactly the problem Portland has. Too good to have any good asset and they haven't drafted well enough to have a good young player. They really can't risk giving up one of their top 3 for Love and no one outside their top 3 are real valuable.

They have to hope Nassir Little looks real good in summer league and they showcase him in the first half of the season if they want to make a move for another star.

Zach Collins is the perfect fit for Beilein. Hes a big who has both a 3 point shot and shot blocking potential. Played 17 MPG for Blazers and averaged .9 BPG which would have led our team last year. Stepped it up even more in 17 MPG in 16 playoff games he averaged 1.4 BPG. Not sure how we would match contracts with them though. Also have Little and Simmons as young players. Little is a high end defensive prospect but hes extremely raw on offense. Simmons really has no fit here if the Cavs plan on developing Garland, Sexton, Porter Jr, and Windler.

Makes sense to me too. Love is from Oregon and acquiring him would likely make the Blazers the team to beat out west.

Here’s a deal that would work:

To BLAZERS: Love & Ante Zizic
To CAVALIERS: Evan Turner, Zach Collins, Nassir Little, & a 1st round pick

Another variation:

To BLAZERS: Kevin Love, Jordan Clarkson, & Cedi Osman
To CAVALIERS: Evan Turner, Mo Harkless, Zach Collins, Nassir Little, & a 1st round pick

If the Blazers want to keep Little, they can give us a second 1st round pick, instead.

I would’ve had interest in Simons prior to the draft, but, now that we’ve picked Garland, there isn’t the same need. Besides, I think Portland wants him to fill Seth’s Curry’s role, since he’s likely leaving in free agency.

It seems like you’re really just trying to get rid of Zizic just for fun.

But all in all, I don’t hate the deal.

Need the roster spot with 3 coming in and 2 going out. Roster would be at 16 guaranteed contracts if we do a 3 for 1. All the other contracts are either rookies, Osman, or fat expiring contracts that would make it harder to match salaries.

Well, there’s a degree of likelihood that we simply waive JR Smith.

We also could acquire another 1st rather than Nassir Little.

Not hating Zizic. Just trying to balance out the deal.
I like Collins, but an argument can be made that he’s proven even less than Zizic at this point in 2 NBA seasons.

That’s all I’m saying.

Young team like us giving up Love and young talent in the same deal.
