Adams, Diallo, and a 1st for Love.

EDIT - Or, we could just say give us Adams and Bazley. I may not even need a 1st in return if we can grab Bazley in the deal.

We have to be able to snag at least a lottery type first rounder and a young player right? If PG is worth 5 1sts and a young stud surely Kevin can net like 1/5th of that

I think AD and PG13 got these huge returns because of who they had attached to play with them. If the Lakers missed out on AD, I think LeBron would have asked for a trade. The clippers most likely view this trade as getting both PG13 and Kawhi. Without trading for PG13 they knew they wouldn't have a chance at getting Kawhi.

Please, OKC. Go fishing for another star player to pair with Russ. Maybe even one who is well past his prime but is a really nice guy who happened to go to college with Russ.

Let's make a deal.
That would be nice!

Russell is an intriguing player, but he doesn't really fit our roster at all.

If you make that trade, you're definitely committed to trading one of Russell, Sexton, or Garland in upcoming years.

Culver, Bates-Diop, and draft picks, with Dieng or Teague as salary filler. There probably is a way to sub in Covington for the salary with someone else.

Russell ain't worth Culver and draft picks. Wolves know this. Russell scored 21 PPG in a contract year shooting 43.4 percent and 36 percent from deep. Sure he had 7 assists but he also had 3 turnovers per game. All this was in a contract year when players tend to play above themselves to get paid. I think the Warriors gave more then they will get back which was Iggy + 2 1st rounders. Aside from being young Russell really doesn't have a stand out skill. Hes not an elite passer, hes not an elite shooter, hes not elite at getting to the bucket. Hes a jack of all trades master of none. Not to mention his down right horrible defense.

Would you trade with the warriors? Only if we could flip D’Angelo for another first round pick.

No I wouldn't. As I've said before the only way I trade Love is if it is clearly a great deal for the Cavs plus he is okay with the destination. Not sure about the latter with Golden State but the main problem would be the fact that Russell is a just a flip candidate for the Cavs and GS would likely see Love as an even deal for Russell. They paid out 2 first round picks for him then gave him a max or close max contract. I still don't understand why GS went after Russell.

The team that really wanted Russell was Minnesota and I thought there was a possible trade match scenario involving multiple teams where both Love and Russell could end up there and the Cavs end up with someone like Sabonis from Indiana, some picks, and Culver from Minnesota. It would have taken a lot of moving contracts with various teams (the Smith contract would be involved also) but was possible. But Phoenix signed Rubio, Indiana grabbed Brogdon, and then GS went after Russell.

This latter is the only type of deal I would take for Love. He is worth much more on this young Cavs team than a couple of late 1st round picks.

Part of me also wants to see Golden State stuck with Russell now so I admit I am biased there. I agree with the article that he is a bad fit for them. It makes me wonder if they'd be interested in Clarkson in fact

He'd be good with KAT in pick and roll situations. Well anybody would but Russell is proficient at that. But I agree that the Wolves know his limitations too so were probably okay with signing him for the money he wanted and giving up more assets to move contracts to make it work. I really don't see them now doing all of that plus having to give up yet more assets to get him from GS.

I agree it would be an overpay and I didn't specify what draft picks because we have no clue how much either side values Culver. The thing though is KAT wants to play with Russell, they tried to make it happen. You can discount a team overpaying to get a player their star player wants to play with. KAT is on a long term contract but he could demand a trade and there would be teams lining up for him. I think a team like Minny would over pay to keep a star like KAT happy. The market they are in and the fact that they don't have much flexibility with their roster. Teague is getting older and Russell would be an upgrade.

Russell is a bad long term fit with GSW. But he's a decent fit in the short term given how much offense they've lost in Durant and Thompson.

Very GSW of them to have Thompson's projected return and Russell's trade eligibility occurring during the same window.
