Regardless of whether he stays or goes, I think Love will have his jersey in the rafters. LeBron, Kyrie, Love, and Tristan all will have them. Not sure if anyone beyond them will from the Championship era, but I expect those four to be hanging there after they've retired.

That said, I'm all for keeping Love as long as he wants to stay. If the season goes really bad and he asks to be traded to a playoff team, I do it because he has been such a pro. Though I think if Love and TT stay healthy that the season will not be as bad as some predict, especially if the continue to play vastly improved defense. I will be very interested to see how the D performs tonight.

I fully understand why LeBron and Irving would have their jersey’s hung in the rafters, but it makes me sick. They did not want to be here, and actively sabotaged this team in a number of ways. I’m not a fan of their poor character.

u really think Tristan will have his number retired? no all stars and a role player

Love and Thompson had 37 points on 18 shots with 24 rebounds against Washington. That makes the young guards life a lot easier. 37 points on 18 shots is incredible. In our other wins they had 40 points on 29 shots and 46 on 24 shots.

In our loses
27 on 21
32 on 30
29 on 24
40 on 28
36 on 29

32.8 on 26.4. in the loses
41 on 23.33 in the wins

We retired Nate Thurmond who played a total 114 games and averaged 5ppg & Bingo Smith.

TT has a shot considering he is one of the core starters from the championship who stayed.

Biggest difference between this year and last is that the vets really seem to be buying in to the rebuild. Last year we kept hearing the stories about how the team was essentially freezing out Sexton and now, every break in play Love or TT go and give one of the young guys encouragement or advice and they are always communicating. And you can really tell that it’s made a difference, Sexton has never looked happier

I have no idea what this website is, but they propose this trade:

nba-trade-rumors

Seems interesting, although I don't know much about Little other than he underwhelmed in college.

We need someone that can come back in the trade that could somewhat fill the Love role. Who plays the 4 for the cavs in this scenario?
I'd like to see Zach Collins coming back in the Portland package and be slotted into the 4...can't do it now he's out for like forever. Maybe at the deadline.
I like Phoenix to deal with,,how about Tyler Johnson/ Kaminsky/Bridges and a top 5 protected one? Or Johnson/Kaminsky and 2 top 5 protected picks?

Yes because he was a critical part of winning the title and he is one that was drafted by them.

The All-Star bit will likely be addressed this season if he continues to play as he has. I would also not be surprised if he gets a new deal. If he can play like this for another 3-4 years in Cleveland, I think he's a lock to go in the rafters.

Nate Thurmond had his number retired for two seasons at the end of his career. Granted, quite a bit of that had to do with him being from Akron.

But I expect Tristan will see his number retired and will be part of a statue honoring the 2016 team.

Love TT's contributions to the title, but a role player getting his jersey retired and a statue would be asinine.

So should we un-retire Nate Thurmond?

By the end of the this season (if he is healthy) Tristan will be within striking distance of the all-time offensive rebound leader in Cavs history. If they do re-sign him, he will likely pass big Z next year as the Cavs all time offensive rebound leader. He will also likely pass Z in defensive rebounds as well. As he does that, he will pass Brad Daugherty in total rebounds.

If he stays fairly healthy and if he is signed to an extension (two big ifs), Tristan Thompson has a good chance of becoming the top rebounding center in Cavaliers history next year before his 30th birthday.

Oh and he also would likely pass LeBron James to become the top rebounder in Cavs history next year as well.

Tristan is already second in Cavs history when it comes to rebounds per game, only behind Daugherty. Had Daugherty had a healthy, longer career his likely would be way ahead of everyone else in Cavs history in the category.

So if Tristan becomes the top offensive, defensive, and total rebounds leader in Cavs history, he should not get his number retired? How many second chance points had he gotten the club over the years with his prowess on the offensive glass?

Tristan will have his jersey in the rafters. And I would not be surprised if we sign him for 3-4 more years and he ends up 1000+ rebounds ahead of LeBron on the all-time list for the Cavs.
