Portland has zilch to offer us. The "Love to Portland" narrative is something that everybody thinks they'll just will into existence.
They actually do, though.

Not that we want Whiteside, but he's an expiring and saves a monumental amount of money for us the next couple years if we let him walk instead of paying Love the next few.

Add in Little, a young wing with potential.... Collins, a young big who's showed great progress before getting hurt... and perhaps even a pick and I think that's a very fair deal for both teams.

Portland has Nurkic coming back eventually so Whiteside will be expendable if they absolutely want Love.

I'm starting to think we would do well to make that trade. I don't think Love's body is going to age well. He's a ticking time bomb injury wise. If they offered Colins/Little/Whiteside they should take that,,,maybe we could try to get a protected first out of them but I'm not sure they would give up that much.

You just don't put Hassan Whiteside back on a young rebuilding team and expect the same production he just now began to flash on a veteran team.
But would you be acquire Whiteside for his ability, or just to make the salaries work? If it's the latter, we could always just buy him out. Or perhaps move him as an expiring and try to squeeze another asset out of the deal.

I don't make any decisions for the Cavs. However, we do know that Whiteside was available to the Cavs all last off-season and they didn't want any part of him. He undermined his coach two straight years, and Spoelstra is a pretty successful guy in his role. So, since Portland has very little to offer, the deal would also be Love's contract for Whiteside the expiring... and I don't think anything has happened so dramatically to change the Cavs opinion of that trade. Does a low future first rounder added move the needle? Considering Love looked good up until a week ago, I doubt it.

Your making that trade based on the upside of Collins and Little,,I don't think Portland would give that up for Love. You would be lucky to get that kind of package of young players, salary match and a first rounder (even if its in the 20's)

Collins and Little? I think Jordan Belfort wants to sell you a pen.

I thought they could hold out for more at the beginning of the season but watching him on the court I'm not sure he's going to make it to the deadline in one piece. His back and knees are messed up.

The only trade to consider would be Michael Porter Jr and either Gary Harris or Will Barton. (or whatever other folks they want to chuck in) This Portland stuff isn't bad per say...but I like the upside of MPJ over Little and Collins now worries me with an injured shoulder.

The main concept though beyond anything else is...Kevin gives the Cavs a lot of media attention and you don't just give that away.

I think there's a bit of recency bias there. He looked fine, rested, came back and looked like he still needed rest. Against Milwaukee he seemed to be righting the ship. I can't think of a worse time to adjust trade value from Cleveland's perspective. Manage his wear and tear before you start gauging trade value... overall he is still looking at a good comeback start to the season.

I'm personally a fan of Will Barton and would love to see him as the starting SF on this team putting Cedi back on the bench. But I really don't see a fit with Denver at all. Don't see the need for Love.

Collins shoulder injury concerns you but Michael Porter Jr's back being a mess doesn't?

MPJ has drop foot and hasn't played much productive basketball since the diagnosis. Seriously guys, the grass on the other side isn't even grass, it's a forest fire.
