Love has been injured. Not medically red flagged. Teams had MPJ off their draft boards because of his back issue. I am not arguing his upside. I am not saying I wouldn't make that trade. But the medical staff has to approve of acquiring MPJ and that seems highly unlikely at this point.

And not all injuries are physical or on the surface.

Love has had under the surface problems for a few years now.

Hard to play well when the team around you sucks and you're suffering from a broken heart...

I just watched the Thunder easily overcome the Jazz. Gobert gobbled up 17 boards, and the Jazz still got outrebounded. And Mitchell is having to do too much on offense. Love would be a great fit there; he could get his points without getting force fed because defenses would still focus primarily on Mitchell, and he'd help take rebounding pressure off Gobert. Meanwhile , Gobert covers for Love's defensive deficiencies.

The trick is making a deal work. One scenario I saw thrown out there is Bogdanovic, Ed Davis, Dante Exum, and a top 10 pick for Love.

wait a second, so Garlands piss poor play has nothing to do with Love being disengaged? the two young guards are always driving into road blocks , not moving the ball like the coach wants and are most likely the ones in disagreement with the coach or worse cannot execute anything he wants so they revert to bad basketball. So, I ask you if you were Kevin Love and the org you committed to was more committed to high use of two young undersized guards who refuse to play the game the right way for a rookie head coach with some questionable methods , wouldn't you be a little past the point of keeping it in house?
The guards definitely are contributing to the bad play but what do you expect... they are 1st and 2nd year players, they need time.

Kevin Love on the other hand shouldn’t be contributing to the bad play... suck it up, stop bitching and play hard like TT.

Cavs get: Mikal Bridges, Tyler Johnson, Frank Kaminsky, first rounder top 5 protected
Suns get: Kevin Love, Colin Sexton

I also don't think Phoenix would do that. It definitely solidifies our tank and get a young prospect and a pick with some throw ins but.... that doesn't really make Phoenix better.

I'd say the Jazz trade makes more sense for both teams.

If I'm the Suns, I don't do that.

Fair enough, If I was the Suns I wouldnt do it haha

Best just to wait and see who has the best combination of players/pick..one team that always is rumored for Love is Portland.

Pretty sure that Portland is Love's 1st choice. You think it's a coincidence that Channing Frye mentioned Portland over the summer?
Those are the rumors today. Love wants to go to Portland the Cavs will probably try to accommodate him.

Totally unsubstantiated rumor I heard was Love & Thompson for Whiteside & Bazemore. Salaries are almost identical, which would keep the Cavs below the luxury tax. Portland better be giving us some picks too or Olshey is bending Koby over in that deal.

I just don’t see a deal with Portland that benefits us aside from cap relief. They don’t have any young players that could be apart of our long term future. We aren’t getting CJ. Whiteside and blazemore would probably just get bought out. I just don’t see it with Portland unless they get a 3rd team.

Portland have all their 1st round picks available to trade. I wouldn't mind getting Nassir Little along with one or two first round picks.

Celtics might be the team to try to trade him to. They have the Memphis pick that is top 6 protected in 2020 and unprotected for 2021. It all depends on if they want to get rid of Gordon Hayward. They also have some young guys like Romeo Langford, Carson Edwards, and Grant Williams.

Cavs roster issues randomly reminded me of a riddle in which a man wants to cross a river with one lamb, one lion and a bundle of grass but can only take one at a time on a small boat. Kind of feels like that with a new coach trying to build for the future, appease vets/guys on a contract year while simultaneously trying to create a culture. Only answer here unlike the riddle, is to offload guys like Kevin and slowly draft guys that fit the identity of the culture you're trying to build.

It's crazy that a guy like Kevin Love who went through a lot of turmoil while contending (toughness questioned, body breaking down, defensive deficiencies) then rewarded a contract he doesn't deserve is putting the blame on youngsters and the coach while working to get traded behind the scene. Seems like a self-serving fraud if i'm being honest. Why did he even bother signing the contract?!?!

If he wanted to, he could take 15+ shots but just coasts then quits after one bad guard play or a bad stretch? The irony of it all is that his attitude and poor play will almost certainly guarantee he isn't traded short of the team adding an asset just to offload him.

Great post and all but what the fuck is the answer to that riddle?

Would Portland even be interested? Seems like they would rather have LMA back
