Windy was on SportsCenter. He said the way the trade technically went down was every single player being traded to Philly into their cap space. And then Philly dispersing the players from there.

Somehow that adds up to a trade exception.

The difference in salary between Young and Shved is 6.3.

They could do a non-simultaneous trade of Shved for Young. That would give them the 6,3 exception. Within a year, however, they'd have to make up somewhere between 6.2-6.4 in outgoing salary to make up for it. They could send Barea out, but still have to give 1.6-1.8 mil in another trade at some point.

Regardless of who you want to parse out the credit to, from the minute the season ended, we:

1. Won the draft lottery
2. Hired one of the best regarded basketball minds in the world as Head Coach
3. Hired one of the most highly regarded young assistants to be Associate Head Coach
4. Drafted Wiggins
5. Deftly traded for a contract that has massive balue in the trade market next year in Haywood
6. Signed Kyrie Irving to a MAX extension, squashing all talk of him wanting to leave
7. Created the necessary cap room to sign LeBron via 3 way trade with Bos/NJ
8. Signed LeBron
9. Signed Mike Miller & James Jones
10. Signed Shawn Marion
11. Traded for Kevin Love using the first picks we won in the past two seasons
12. Did all of this while retaining the most valuable future 1st we possessed(Memphis Pick) and our own 1st rounders in 2015, 2017, and 2018

Thank you Dan Gilbert and David Griffin for have stubborn big brass b*lls and getting it done.
Thank you LeBron for returning home and believing in the Cavs and your own ability to assemble a championship caliber team around you.
Thank you Kyrie for taking the money and sticking around. You were the first domino, we think ;)
Thanks Miller, Jones, and Marion for taking less money than you could've gotten elsewhere.
Thanks Love for telling Dan Gilbert enough of what he needed to hear to be comfortable trading for you.

And a huge thanks to RCF, Ben, all the mods, and the while family here. There's a lot of work to be done but we are entering an era that is set up to be more entertaining and more rewarding than any era of Cavs basketball we have ever experienced.

And to add to your list....we also kept several solid to very good players as well in Waiters, Varejao, Thompson, Delly. What an amazing off-season.

Whats amazing is next year could possibly be an even more talented team with the Haywood contract. We can possibly add 2 more above average players to the roster

Glad it's official... gonna be the most exciting Cavs season ever... can't wait!

Beautiful. Was initially pro keeping Wiggins when the news first hit about getting Love, then slowly the past couple months changed my mind.

We are going to be effing sick.

I do think we have to thank Chris Grant some. I believe that with some tweaking our present management team followed his blueprint. I think that you can trace all the events leading up to today to the day after the Decision when the cHeat wanted to hold that ridiculous welcome event and were willing to be less than tough negotiators with us to so that they could do the Lebron sign and trade. The sequence of event is quite extraordinary. I believe that the national media narrative of Lebron being his own gm is not totally accurate. I think that when he met the CAVS they told him that they believed they could get the Love deal done. Mike Miller they have wanted for years and their wishes corresponded with Lebrons on that score. James Jones was all Lebron- He is his caddy. Shawn Marion was the CAVS not Lebron-they used him to recruit-something he failed to do the last time he was here.

This was in the Minnesota paper before the trade was officially announced...

That is an amazing advertisement.....

The best breakfast in the FREE WORLD????? Dammit Minnesota got over AGAIN!

What a summer. Think back to a year ago and how we all felt, knowing we won a draft lottery that was considered one of the worst drafts in a long time. Everyone felt we missed it by one season. Now fast forward to now. We win the lottery again and the dominos just fall from there. Cleveland fans we got a HUGE mulligan that most teams never get. LeBron James came back to his former team and has now assembled a ridiculous supporting cast. Let's all sit back and enjoy the next few years and hopefully we are celebrating a title or two. Cheers to the Cavs and Cheers to RCF!

Great Job by Ben getting this board up and running in time for the announcement. I know it is no easy task in doing so!

Somehow that adds up to a trade exception.

The thing that is odd about that is that if that is the way it went down-why did we have to give up Bennett-I thought the real reason we gave up Bennett was to make the trade work from a CBA standpoint. I guess Bennett was more than just a throw in.

Scratch that. The difference between Love and Young is 6.3. I think Love technically went to Philly 1st, then to use. Not quite sure how we got Bennet and Wiggins to Minny in this scenario, though.
