Also, how in the hell did the Wolves get a 6.3mil trade exception from this? Is anyone besides Windy reporting this?

Windy was on SportsCenter. He said the way the trade technically went down was every single player being traded to Philly into their cap space. And then Philly dispersing the players from there.

Somehow that adds up to a trade exception.

had a migraine, took a nap. woke up, noticed Kevin "QUEST" Love is coming here. grab a cig, walk over to the window, take a deeeeeep hit:

I know its pretty much a done deal, but why are some of you saying its official? Haven't seen any tweet or official statement from any of the involved.

Woj = official.

Biggest weapon in basketball? Dan G's secret meetings. game changer, dude.

Dan is fucking coldblooded in his vegas suite, casual attire and all, offering up some light snacks and bottled water (the french kind). the moment you sit down in front of the neatly positioned fruitbasket, you've already lost. Dan don't fuck around when it comes to sitting down.

Regardless of who you want to parse out the credit to, from the minute the season ended, we:

1. Won the draft lottery
2. Hired one of the best regarded basketball minds in the world as Head Coach(multiple int championships)
3. Hired one of the most highly regarded young assistants to be Associate Head Coach(1x champ as player, groomed for 5 years under Doc Rivers)
4. Drafted Wiggins
5. Deftly traded for a contract that has massive value in the trade market next year in Haywood
6. Signed Kyrie Irving to a MAX extension, squashing all talk of him wanting to leave
7. Created the necessary cap room to sign LeBron via 3 way trade with Bos/NJ
8. Signed LeBron(2x NBA Champ, 5 Final appearances)
9. Signed Mike Miller & James Jones(both 2x NBA champs)
10. Signed Shawn Marion(1x NBA Champ)
11. Traded for Kevin Love using the first picks we won in the past two seasons
12. Did all of this while retaining the most valuable future 1st we possessed(Memphis Pick) and our own 1st rounders in 2015, 2017, and 2018

Thank you Dan Gilbert and David Griffin for have stubborn big brass b*lls and getting it done.
Thank you LeBron for returning home and believing in the Cavs and your own ability to assemble a championship caliber team around you.
Thank you Kyrie for taking the money and sticking around. You were the first domino, we think ;)
Thanks Miller, Jones, and Marion for taking less money than you could've gotten elsewhere.
Thanks Love for telling Dan Gilbert enough of what he needed to hear to be comfortable trading for you.

And a huge thanks to RCF, Ben, all the mods, and the while family here. There's a lot of work to be done but we are entering an era that is set up to be more entertaining and more rewarding than any era of Cavs basketball we have ever experienced.

* As others have mentioned, some thanks should go out to Chris Grant, who while he did a mixed bag here, did lay some of the foundation for this both in assett collection and in helping to maintain a healthy realtionship between Rich Paul and Dan Gilbert. Rich Paul is probably the biggest unsung hero in this whole thing as he has LeBron's trust as friend and agent and has been open and positive to the idea of LeBron returning back to NE Ohio(Paul's home as well) for a while now

On a side note, I want to know the exact terms of the trade. Because we still have all those players from Utah. I wonder if the Cavaliers are still looking to trade for a big-man. I said this almost 2 weeks ago, the Cavaliers should see if they can pry John Henson away from the Bucks. Young, athletic, shot-blocker, not making a ton of money, and the NBA Trade Machine showed me this trade can be done several ways even after the Love trade is completed.

Yeah but what motivation does Milwaukee have to let go of Henson? He's a young player with a lot of promise. I think they'll ask for a lot in return for him and rightfully so.
