If a trade happens, it happens; I'm at peace. There isn't really too much need for "loyalty" in pro sports, when even Steph has no NTC.

Although one could realistically argue that the Browns' recent good karma is a direct result of their "loyalty" to Joe Thomas, as much as we all wanted to send him to a winner to get a 1st rounder, even as he insisted on being a loyal soldier.

I think it is more important to show loyalty in small markets. If the young guys show promise and we are looking at being quasi competitive in 3-4 years, it could entice someone to take a risk in Cleveland while Love is still playing.

Moreover, it demonstrates that the organization treats its players well.

That shit is important in attracting FAs.

They too want a good quality of life (perqs like services at the facility) and to feel welcomed and valued.

I might be going out on a limb here, but the fact that the Knicks and Lakers (LeBron aside) have a reputation for poor management and chaos, as well as occasionally putting players on blast, might, just might, be a significant reason behind their inability to attract marquee Free Agents.

Hopefully he has a much better season, I would like to see him get back his post scoring ability of yesteryear

LeBron brings his own chaos...

Absolutely correct.

But the Lakers have been a mess for years now too.

Family run businesses almost always seem to run to shit after the founder goes.
Jerry West's kid was the reason they've been able to be consistently find these rotation players in the last 1st round/second round but they let him go instead of linking him with a future GM spot. Pelinka was only there because he was Kobe's agent.

If you follow Kevin Love on social media, it could be that his Cavs pre-camp get together in New York has started. Sexton is there anyway. I hope the youngsters are there too.

Can confirm- the camp was underway when this post was made.

FYI given our debate on Love's ranking as a player in this league, ESPN NBARank just came out and rated him at #43 in the league. I don't think much of NBARank but there is their judgement at least. Both sides in our debate can find material from that ranking -- those who were saying that Love is not a top 20-25 player any more, and those saying he is on a similar tier to people who fetched very high prices in free agency (e.g. they rank Horford and Draymond Green as #37 and #38 respectively -- in my opinion a massive underrating of Green, dude gets no respect).

There are some real head-scratchers in that ranking, as usual -- for example, they rank Klay Thompson at #49 in the league, which is only explicable to me if you think he is not coming back from his injury or something. They also have some weird bias for guards, rating e.g. Trae Young and Jamal Murray in the 20s.

I think Horford is actually the guy criminally underrated there. Green is pretty much a one-way player right now. Is offense has just totally disappeared.

Yeah, Horford too, but people just don't give credit to Green for his passing and playmaking on the offensive end. It's like nothing but primary scoring exists.

Those rankings are absurd. Trae Young is better than Love, Horford and Green? Lol Not as of today he isn't.

He's not even vaguely close, which is what's so bizarre. He's a 19 year old guard who gets 19 PPG on inefficient shooting on a bad team and is one of the worst defenders in the league. Come on.

I would love to see a REALCAVSFAN ranking vs ESP'enema's break-down. Our folks mostly seem to have a rock solid feel of the league. The folks at ESPN? They said ZION is better than Love. The dude has played ZERO NBA games.

Yeah heavy dose of potential is weighted pretty heavy
