I just didn't have the energy to make 2 clicks

You are either a liar or never got to spend your lunch money on your own meals as a child. Maybe both.

The site has standards so that it isn't awful to read. It's up to you to do the bare minimum.

Call me crazy, but for some reason I'm starting to get optimistic as far as the progress the Cavs can make next year. Full season for JB, Drummond, and Windler should make a big difference. Then add whatever is done in the draft or trades, or FA.
Who knows?
I'm all in on that. I think this will be a very entertaining team to watch. If TT comes back on a one-year deal, even more so.

Start with the team that finished 6-6 in their last 12 games, including wins over Miami (44-29), Denver (46-27), Philadelphia (43-30), and San Antonio (32-39 in the West).

1. Add two first round picks; Windler and whoever they take at #5 or trade the pick for.
2. Add a stronger Collin Sexton who has been working non-stop on his game in the off-season, as usual.
3. Add a quicker, leaner Darius Garland.
4. Add a full training camp for Bickerstaff to integrate these players and figure out which combinations work best, which is tough to do when you're coming in during the regular season and have very few practices.

Fedor's column today talks about all that was planned for the rest of the schedule but never got done when the last 23 games were cancelled, such as getting a longer look at a big front line with Nance at small forward. And letting KPJ run the offense as a point guard ala James Harden. These are experiments that were cut short, but with a normal training camp, some of which is taking place right now, JB will get the chance to try different things and see what works.

I'm not predicting playoffs but this should be an exciting young team to watch and I expect they will be even more competitive than they were in the last 12 games of this season.

The ONLY young player we have that's shown any glimpse whatsoever of star power is KPJ.... and even he's a long ways away from sniffing that level.

You may not like him or his game, but Sexton has shown at least a "glimpse" of what is often considered a star power in the NBA.

He's only the third player in franchise history to average 20 ppg before the age of 22 -- the others were LBJ and KI. He's fourth in the entire NBA in points per game among players 21 or under, behind Trae Young, Luke Doncic, and Zion Williamson. In a March 2020 game against a very good Boston Celtics team, Collin went off for 41 points, shooting 57.6% from the field, and handing out 6 assists. Again...only Cav other than LBJ or KI to hit 40 points in a game before the age of 22. And he improved in 22 different statistical categories from the year before.

Point is, probably the single most common metric for "star power" in the NBA is scoring, and Sexton has inarguably been elite at that for his age. Now maybe you think KPJ ultimately will be the better player, and that's fine. But when you set the bar as low as just showing "any glimpse whatsoever of star power", it's pretty tough to exclude Sexton given the company he's in at his age when it comes to scoring.

ETA: Probably worth noting that he was the second leading scorer on the USA team in the "Rising Stars" game this past March, and was tied for the highest +/-.

I actually do like Sexton.... and I absolutely love his work ethic.. But even with his work ethic I question what his actual ceiling is. He's going to always be a very good volume scorer, especially as his outside shot progresses.... But his ability to effect other parts of the game is mediocre at the very best. At his position I'd love for the guy to be able to get other players involved better, his assist numbers are obviously underwhelming for the amount of time the ball spends in his hands. Defensively he's improved but his defensive ratings (per NBA . com) are concerningly bad.

To Sexton's credit, even a guy like Harden (the best scorer in the league) gradually increased his assist numbers the first 4-5 years to become the player he is today. Hopefully Collin can improve his numbers to take the next step with his game.

If we want Sexton to maximize his ability to get other players involved and become at least adequate as a distributor, then he needs/needed as much time as possible playing the point. And unfortunately, we punted on that course when we drafted Garland. You cannot maximize two players' development as PG at the same time.

I agree with that.... and like many, I have tons of questions marks with Garland.

Hopefully Year 2 is a step in the right direction.

I am pegging him at around ~55 games played this year.

He needs to quit getting freaky with Kate and play some ball.

Wooo I've went from a huge Kevin Love fan to a guy who can't stand him.

Dude just had a massive lay-off, didn't play any of the pre-season games, and he's already developed a mysterious "calf strain."

What a clown. Please get this man off the payroll.

I'm trying to figure out when NBA players thought they all had some secret clause in their contract that guaranteed the a contractual right to only have to show up and play if the team is good.

Never mind their own responsibility for helping to make the team good....

I'll give Kevin a pass as he was dealing with the calf strain in last two preseason games. It's the "load management" DNP that will bother me if it happens!!!
