At the time of extension, my only expectation from Love was to be a good veteran presence, leader and a positive cultural influence. If he did that, I would say 30 million dollars well spent for Cavs and well earned for Love, regardless of how good or bad he played. So I'm quite disappointed in Love. In my eyes, he wasn't even a neutral presence in Cavs. He has been in quite a few dramas in the last 2 years and mostly at the wrong side of it. I think culturewise, it would be less harmful to the team if Love just sat at home right after the extension.

And I used to like Love. Now, I wouldn't mind at all if the team just sent him home.

During the pandemic shutdown, I got unemployment benefits for 10 weeks.

My economics are at the far opposite of Loves', but with the $600 per week added
into my benefits, I discovered that not working and still having $$$ is a pretty
sweet deal.

A professional athlete dealing with lingering injuries is facing the end of
what they have built their entire life around . Not an easy path.

And what is the willpower to persevere in that activity when you are considered
a aging veteran who has won a championship, banked plenty of $$$ and
is developing a life beyond the game?

Wonder if this time next year we are talking about a possible Love buyout scenario?
I see Detroit is going to buy out Blake with a year and a half left on his deal.
Even if he comes back this year he will probably end up with some kind of sprain or strain.
I was for the extension ,,,boy was I wrong.
Said before. Love is not playing another game for the Cavs. Watch him get bought out eventually and then miraculously able to play for his next team.

What’s in it for us to buy him out? Don’t most buyouts get stretched over 4 years? That would hurt us for a long time. Just have to wait it out or get lucky with a trade.

Bit from Fedor:

Kevin Love’s return remains a mystery. Internally, the Cavs were planning for late February. But then he felt more pain in his calf and there’s a thought the injury has become a challenging mental hurdle for the 32-year-old forward.

Fedor mentioned this on the podcast,a couple of hours ago. He said, the team was hoping to have him back on February 21st against the Thunder.

Cavs version of Danny Salazar except Danny was fucking great. I am just waiting for Larry to get back.

Because Danny salazar helped win us a championship? oh wait... he didn't.

Love was a solid 3rd piece on a championship. I understand the frustration with him and his contract but that is a weak comparison. Danny salazar had potential but he wasn't great. Jaret Wright had a better career than Salazar but both definitely underachieved their potential. Love was a key piece on a championship team...

Very good rebuttal and valid points.

If they aren’t looking at buying out Dre the Cavs sure as hell aren’t buying out Love!

Why would anyone be shocked with Kevin Love having a mental block

I don’t really get the people mocking him for missing so much time with a calf injury, they can take months to heal.
He’s old and injury prone, this will be an on going thing as it has been since his arrival
