Love is not 100% after his calf injury. He said the other day he's maybe 70% right now. It looks to me like he's trying but his mobility was marginal to begin with and he can't afford to lose a step (or 4" off his 14" vertical).

Four days ago he had 25 points in 29 minutes. I wouldn't count him out entirely. He might come back and be a solid (but not a primary) contributor next season.

My Kevin Love moment from tonight:

Guarded by smaller man (Robert Covington). Backs him down and of course can't finish.

Upset with himself, he hangs his head and starts lightly jogging away while the play is still alive. Because Sexton, scrapping for a rebound, managed to tip the ball out right at Love's feet. But Love had already given up on the play and had no idea. The ball bounced a foot from him and Lillard came and got it before Love even turned around.

-45 in 26 minutes. It was a 12 point game, I think, in the 3rd. He comes back in and they go on a 12-0 run and that's that.

-45 might be the worse +/- I've ever seen.

Better just telling him to stay away from the team and wish him luck finding a new contract in two years

You've heard about players that make those around them better. Kevin has a unique talent for making those around him worse. Great guy to have around during tanking season.

Yeah, that play was infuriating. Love apparently thought there was no chance for an offensive rebound and wasted Sexton's effort.

Here's what I posted in the game thread:

I looked at the play-by-play and according to my arithmetic the Cavaliers were outscored 91-48 when Love was in the game for a -43 (the box score has him at -45). The point is that the Blazers scored 91 points in the 26 minutes Love was on the floor. That extrapolates to 168 points in 48 minutes.

91 points in 26 minutes. I appreciate Love being out there during this final meaningless stretch of the season, but he's not helping the team. It would be better if they just let him take the last eight games off, finish the season healthy, and tell him to spend the off-season working with a personal trainer on flexibility and quickness. I get that he's not fully recovered but he can't play in this league at the speed he's moving.

If you didn't know anything about the players and watched the game you'd think Love and Varajao were both 38. But with the Cavs as short-handed as they are need every healthy body and I respect Love for doing his best with what he has left.

So why play him now. Shut him down before he makes it worse again

Because every game matters now, the worst thing for the future of this franchise would be to pick up a meaningless win or 2 over the rest of the season. The Indiana game next week is shaping up to be game of the year candidate, If we lose out we'll end up with the 3rd or 4th most balls, even one win probably drops us to 6th. Play love 35 a night to better the future.

Holy Toledo. You have to try really hard to not try to end up with that. That’s insane.

All I am saying is if this dude turns back the clock and pulls out a meaningless win somehow, I am going to be furious.

Thats a long winded way to say "one hundred and forty million dollars"
