koby has done well so far

obviously have to see where garland, kpj and windler end up but im optimistic

okoro was just a solid pick, no reach

he's acquired assets, grabbed drummond for free

I dont think there's anything he's missed on

My biggest issue with this iteration of the rebuild is the lack of foundational pieces on the roster and dearth of assets we could use to acquire them. Which guy(s) on this roster are you giving a max contract to for the next 5-10yrs? Which guy(s) are going to be the face of your franchise for those 5-10yrs? Which guy(s) are you going to roll the ball to and will us to wins (in the playoffs) on their backs?

Without the answer to those questions, we're still wondering aimlessly around the NBA landscape. Don't get me wrong, I think we have *good* NBA players, but we're so far from having any real direction. Is this roster even as good as the Heat were before signing Jimmy Butler?

Just really hard to say. Don't think we drafted any busts, but getting blue chip talent 5 or later is hard.

Got 3rd best scorer is his draft at 8 in Collin and a potential steal in KPJ maybe.

Okoro could be something but hasn't played an nba game.

Jury is still out on these guys. Garland was the only one mentioned as a potential star before he was drafted and that was very tepid.

Can't build with guys you were never in a position to draft. Best to stay the course and develop guys as best you can and trade talent and picks for a star when you get a chance

A nice toasty hot take.

Reminds me of the halcyon days of "Gerald Wilkens is going to get into Jordan's jock. Cavs will take down the Bulls this year in six games. And then crush the overrated Suns in the Finals."

At least it's a hot take filled with optimism & positivity. ;)

True, and for that we thank you!

We could use more optimism around here!

Soooo...youre saying the rebuild isn't anywhere near successful, yet?

Please for the love of God, don't make the playoffs this year or the next year.
Tank for Cade and then tank for either Bates or Holmgren: need one of these blue chippers to really complete the Process.
I'd rather they not tank... I like the route that the Nuggets took better, they rebuild through drafting smart, building a culture and player development....

I don't think we have any history to suggest we draft as well as the Nuggets or the Blazers.

-You can get lucky Giannis and Jokic: shit happens outside the lottery and those two are on there way to HOF careers
-OTOH Lebron, Doncic, Davis, Harden were all top 5 picks: statistically your chance for an All star or better drops like a rock after the top 3

This is what I dont understand. Folks would rather tank saying chances of nabbing an all star after pick 3 drops like a rock, when even the chance of getting into the top 3 pick is a lottery in itself.

You take chances on things you can control (player development) than things you can't (draft order)

I wouldn't say he nailed the rebuild since the organization is still rebuilding but he's done a good job finding players that fit together.....imo

This second rebuild doesn't feel hopeless as the previous one. Like,I keep saying,if this team competes every night I really think it could get the 10th spot.

People want the team to improve but want the team to tank just to get another top pick...I don't understand that mentality at all.

The team is about go into its third year post-Lebron and I want the team to compete...Atleast,have more than 19 wins.

I guess I feel better about total talent acquisition than top end talent. We knew right away we had one in Kyrie. The rest of the roster was a mess.

This time we have several good pieces, and a great young scorer in Sexton. There is some hope one of these guys could break out like Jamal Murray or other guys that took a few seasons to cook

I feel like,we got a few in Garland and KPJ,maybe Okoro but I feel like fans are impatient. It took Kawhi,Donovan and a few others to become stars or borderline superstars in the league. While,Lebron was a star when he came into the league, it took him a couple of years to become a superstar.

While,I understand,a team needs atleast two superstars to win a title. You still need those third and fourth guys that will get you over the hump when the superstar players that's having a bad game...

How do you expect/suggest the Cleveland Cavaliers, whose best free agent signing (aside from the fluke of the guy more 45min away coming "home") is Larry Hughes, to get those 2 superstars?
