Yep Love and a couple 2nds is no where near Morey's inflated Simmons value but that is all I would see the Cavs giving up knowing the toxic environment they would be creating by trading for a headcase like Simmons in the first place.
Morey has behaved like James Cayne during the Bears Sterns collapse and has really hurt his team as a result. You're primary goal in this situation should be fielding as many best offers from as many teams as possible and bidding them against each other. Making reality-detached demands and shutting down negotiations with half the teams who were interested in trading for Ben is basically GM malpractice.

Having said all of that, the market for Ben is going to be higher than Love and seconds. It's reported that the Pacers offered Brogdon and a first already.

Are they fresh seconds or sloppy seconds?

SOLD Brogdon is far better than him given his contract is not an albatross and he isn't afraid to shoot lol
I know BS ( seems like a fitting name for him) value should get them more than Love who never plays and some meh non guaranteed contract role players. However, BS being a self inflated fool that has done NOTHING to improve his shooting and has his but spanked due to that exact weakness in the playoffs ,which prompted the end of his run in Philly , and is driving his value to the dregs compared to what he is paid. I think if he was not so well paid he would have plenty of value similar to Okoro or Osman, but I wouldn't trade either of them on team friendly deals for essentially the same kind of player on a supermax or whatever the hell it is those fools gave him.smh That is the power of Rich Paul over these orgs.

I think it's important to recognize what Simmons does well before tossing him in the negative value bucket. He's probably top 3 defensively in the NBA? He can defend 1-4 and most 5s without a problem. Despite being 6'10" his handle, court vision, and passing are all good enough to start at PG even if doing so is problematic due to spacing. That's a very valuable skill set to have on the court in that it makes other teams reluctant to trap the primary ball handler.

If Mobley can start at center in a couple of years, and the Cavs can eventually get a 2 guard who spaces the floor, then I can see Simmons working out very well. But I'm all kinds of concerned about his free throw shooting. Because opponents are going to test him during the regular season now. It's why I don't totally buy the notion that the Sixers want him to come back and play this season. If he gets the DAJ treatment during the regular season, and doesn't respond well, his value really could drop into negative territory.

if we trade for BS, Koby better never utter the word "culture" again

I hate the idea of adding another high paid defender after paying Allen and drafting Okoro and Mobley but thats just me

It’s not his poor FG shooting or his worst FT shooting that scares me about Simmons…..It’s his confidence! He RAN from the ball AND shots in the playoffs! He bailed out on a wide open layup because he saw a defender coming to foul him so forced a bad pass and caused a turnover. Lack of confidence is worst than poor shooting. What’s that saying? YOU MISS 100% OF THE SHOTS YOU NEVER TAKE!

No need for another head case to plant on this young team. We already have love

Can’t change the title. It fits either way. Same if The Godfather tells you that if you get the job done, he’ll take care of you, and if you don’t get the job done, he’ll take care of you. Same words, same tone … results vary a bit.

This thread title is the Cleveland “Trust the Process.”
