I think it's important to recognize what Simmons does well before tossing him in the negative value bucket. He's probably top 3 defensively in the NBA? He can defend 1-4 and most 5s without a problem. Despite being 6'10" his handle, court vision, and passing are all good enough to start at PG even if doing so is problematic due to spacing. That's a very valuable skill set to have on the court in that it makes other teams reluctant to trap the primary ball handler.

If Mobley can start at center in a couple of years, and the Cavs can eventually get a 2 guard who spaces the floor, then I can see Simmons working out very well. But I'm all kinds of concerned about his free throw shooting. Because opponents are going to test him during the regular season now. It's why I don't totally buy the notion that the Sixers want him to come back and play this season. If he gets the DAJ treatment during the regular season, and doesn't respond well, his value really could drop into negative territory.

I guess Simmons can guard 1's, but not good 1's. Garland and Sexton carve that boy up on the reg.

There's about 4-5 moments each season where I feel like bumping this thread.

This is definitely one of those moments.

The hardest part is when you see KPJ being so good for another roster and are left feeling like if only I had been the GM he would be doing that in CLE and the Cavs would have never traded for Prince smh

25/5/5 on 16 shots for KPJ last night in an exhibition win for the Rockets over the Wizards

The only reason KPJ got traded is because he was immature (understandable -age) and he verbally assaulted Altman. Altman got embarrassed and traded him for basically nothing. Kevin Love at the time said that KPJ had the most talent on the team. Then the smear campaign against him happened through the media that it was a good thing to trade him away because he was a problem child.

Altman's track record of three picks in that draft isn't looking so hot right now. Traded away the better of the three.

Can we please stop reshashing the KPJ shit? Covid is what fucked his relationship with us. We didnt dump him on a dime becasue he was "bad for culture" like they did with Ron Harper. He was legitimately a bad egg, had multiple noted incidents, and had pissed off multiple other players. Trading him to Houston was for his good as much as ours. It was never going to work and people need to get over it. That is not Altman's fault and clearly some of you have not been paying attention.

I dont think anyone is trying to rehash anything. KPJ is balling for Houston same as he did here only difference is he is the pg down there

Not to rehash, but all the best take have some crazy folks on their teams. LeBron seems to understand the need and why he always seems to protect those guys. A little crazy can do amazing things, but you're playing with fire a bit. This is just the general problem with having the "good old boys" club.

So good??? Bhahahaha

I think the Cavs likely need to move on from Altman. You need to find guys who fit around Mobley and Altman is going to be too wedded to Sexland Okoro because he will feel he needs to justify those guys to keep his job. A new GM won’t have that problem.

He should have been moved on at the end of last season
