Koby Altman has this team in a great position. We don't owe any first round picks. It's really difficult for a small market team to add talent without overpaying. The draft is important for every team, but especially for a small market team like the Cavs.

Altman nailed the past 3 drafts. Aside from SGA, Sexton was the right choice. I think he'll be a perennial all star. Last year, Garland was a questionable decision, but the talent is undeniable. However, the real get was KPJ @ 30. When you can find a starting calliber player in that range, you know you're doing a good job.

This year, I think Okoro was the right choice. Defense wins championships, so adding a defensive specialist is always smart. I've seen enough of Okoro from the offensive end to know that he'll develop into a nice third option, while bringing defensive tenacity this team lacked.

The Kevin Love extention was questionable, but Love is talented & is a veteran, he could help guide the young core. Altman got Drummond for free, I hope we extend him. He's a fantastic big.

Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Dante Exum, Kevin Porter Jr., Damyean Dotson, Matt Mooney, Isaac Okoro, Cedi Osman, Dylan Windler, Kevin Love, Larry Nance Jr., Andre Drummond, Javale McGee & Dean Wade. I love where this team stands, I think we can sneak into the playoffs next year. It'll be a deep draft next year so we can get a good player regardless of where we end up!

I’d slow down a bit.

I’m one of the last to go negative or assume the worst about what he’s done SINCE LeBron left, but we need at least this full season to play out, to even have a good read on how things are progressing.

Absolutely need to see a second season of Garland and KPJ and the initial season impact of Okoro and Windler before we can truly begin to judge the eye for talent and if it should be trusted.

So for me it’s at least 8 months before you can legit praise or rip him and claim it to be an informed opinion.

As you’ll soon see in the responses, there are a lot of people far less patient that that.

Edit: I’m not saying people shouldn’t have opinions on individual moves and choices, whether positive or negative, just that it’s too early to hire the rebuild and the job he’s done/is doing on a macro level yet and say that it’s a success, in its way to being a success, a failure or on its way to being a failure. Really think this upcoming season and following offseason are critical bits of information before making those large judgements on the process as a whole

How is the rebuild over? We don't have a single marquee player? In fairness, Koby didn't whiff on any because whoever that player is that was drafted our picks hasnt appeared yet.

Making the playoffs this year would be a disaster if we miss the chance to get an actual superstar from the top of this draft.

I wouldn't agree the rebuild is over but I do think Koby has done a decent to above average job with the card's he's been dealt. The draft is a crapshoot in so many cases. True enough, for us it is likely the only place we get a star but you have to get lucky. (in the right year at that)

If we are bad enough by the laws of sucking, we will be pinging-and ponging but I am longing to get away from all of that. I think we actually HAVE the kid in KPJ. Talent wise he checks ALL the boxes. Can he keep it together is another thing.

The rebuild isn’t over until this team is playoff ready. I would say Koby Altman has done a really good job so far, with the possible exception of the Kevin Love extension, which is probably more on ownership than anyone. Koby turned Kyrie Irving into the draft pick that became a Collin Sexton. He acquired KPJ for 4 future 2 round picks. He acquired two very good centers, in Andre Drummond & JaVale McGee, for next to nothing. It’s hard to question his draft picks, as he’s gotten good value and talent with all of them.

Working for a hands-on owner, like Dan Gilbert, probably isn’t easy, but Koby has done a really solid job. I hope Dan let’s Koby do his job and that we can keep him, unlike what happened with David Griffin.

My biggest issue with this iteration of the rebuild is the lack of foundational pieces on the roster and dearth of assets we could use to acquire them. Which guy(s) on this roster are you giving a max contract to for the next 5-10yrs? Which guy(s) are going to be the face of your franchise for those 5-10yrs? Which guy(s) are you going to roll the ball to and will us to wins (in the playoffs) on their backs?

Without the answer to those questions, we're still wondering aimlessly around the NBA landscape. Don't get me wrong, I think we have *good* NBA players, but we're so far from having any real direction. Is this roster even as good as the Heat were before signing Jimmy Butler?
