He can create for himself, lead on breaks, finish, cut, and his mid range game is actually pleasant to watch. His defense is good, especially on guys like Anthony Edwards who aren't going to blow by. Would've been perfect in the Clippers game. No idea why he hasn't been in the rotation. On the nights we needed defense and the options are bad Cedi or Okoro.. just why?

Lamar Stevens is an NBA basketball player. He will likely never be good enough to start on a championship level team. But he could develop into a key rotational piece for one.

I dont think Lamar is ever going to be a 40% or close to it 3 point shooter, but he is a bit of a threat, and after looking it up, he is only 25. It felt like Stevens played 9 years at Penn State and for the cavs for 5, but this is just his 3rd year.

I think stevens will get a bit better, but he has been trying to shoot better for years, it is what it is. But I love his game. He is a combo forward, who can defend and is aggresive going to the whole. I think he is a fringe rotation guy, more of a when we have injuries he can play and fill in. for and undrafted player, i will take Lamar on my Roster anytime. Plays within himself and plays hard at all moments.

he's also a smart basketball player, cuts to the rim at the right time and double teams on the exact moment to force turnovers. his on court awareness is what makes him playable.

If we would have picked him 5th in the first round he'd play 20-30 minutes every single night. He'll never be a star, but every night he'll give you 110% and after 30 minutes you'll look at the box score and see he gave you a dozen points and 6 boards and the guy he covered will have to have earned his points. Alas, that's all Stevens will ever be, so instead of playing 20-30 minutes a night he'll get 2-3 DNP/CD's a week in the box score as the team plays others who inspire bigger dreams.

he had a string of sorry misses/blocks but he kept on attacking. this guy has a fighting spirit most in the team does not have.

Stevens was like 1-8 on layup attempts last night. It was painful to watch. He's the very definition of a role player, and if you leave him out there for too long, it's going to hurt you. He's a good matchup against guys like Giannis and Butler who like to play bully ball, and if the officials are letting guys get physical he should see minutes, but he gets crazy overrated on this forum.

He didn't miss those at all last year. He was rushing. It is hard not getting sped up against that team when you have had so little playing time.

HE needs more minutes and should be playing Wades minutes for now.

I don't think many are overrating him. I think he's far from a star and should not be starting on a good team, but on a nightly basis I'd prefer him in the lineup to Okoro. I realize much of Stevens game is ugly, but if you look in the box score afterwards you'll see 10-12 boards and 5 boards.
Is that ideal??? Far from it, It's actually Mike Sanderesque and whoever thought a Clevelander would look back fondly at him, but I'd much prefer that to the 2/0/1 lines we see from Okoro twice a week.

It wasn't just rushing, his attempts were heavily contested. Brook and Giannis play really good defense and they were bothering more than just Stevens close to the rim.

Stevens also knocked down some threes and midrange shots, remember that? And he played excellent physical defense against Giannis.

Stevens >>>>>> 0k0r0.

He blocked four shots against Milwaukee and was 2-for-3 on 3's. He's 9-for-10 on free throws this year.

He's very strong and a tremendous leaper. He's much better finishing at the rim than Cedi or Okoro, although 6'11" guys like Giannis and Brook Lopez gave him trouble. But normally he gets the bucket or the foul.

I'd like to see him get 20 minutes a game for 10 games and see what he does. He didn't sniff the court for the first two weeks, playing just 4 minutes in the Cavs' first seven games.

Honestly they need his energy. Guys are sluggish out there. I hope they are all sick and not totally worn down already
