Laptop To TV Question

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bought a new HDMI cord, still have a TV screen that will quickly show the laptop screen only if it to go back to a black screen. Attempted to adjust the resolution settings multiple times and still no luck. So frustrating. Will probably call Apple for help as it seems that it's not a common issue. Thanks for trying guys.

I've wondered if this is the reason for a problem I have from time to time (assume it is my Yamaha receiver). Nothing to do with a laptop, but about twice a week the tv will go to snow and I'll have to re-start my Receiver. TV is a brand new Sony - but it happened with my Samsung last year. Its almost as if the feed is not recognized all of a sudden and it goes to snow. Have you heard of this, oh guru?

I have this same issue and it started when I hooked my new Yamaha receiver up, but I also replaced my 1080p Samsung with 4k QLED Samsung, at the same time. So I was assuming it was the ~3 year old on-board video on the motherboard causing the issue. Now, I wonder, if it is the receiver.

The snow issue ALWAYS and ONLY happens when I close an Amazon Prime video or Netflix browser window.

Mine is pretty open and with no heat issues, btw

Snow over HDMI is often a result of HDCP authentication failure... This happens because you're going from an encrypted HDCP signal (Amazon/Netflix) to an unencrypted HDCP signal (the desktop).

Try replicating the problem without the receiver in place.

Checked it out, I actually had it hooked up directly to the TV already. I replaced the HDMI cable, I'll report back later as to if it did the trick or not.

My next step is to either buy a video card (I don't game, but if it does the trick) or a new motherboard/cpu/RAM to replace my i5 45xx and z-87 Gigabyte motherboard & DDR3 with an i7 7xxx series and DDR4 RAM. I want to upgrade soon anyways, but it's not a necessity right now.
