LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You make some great points. The whole Kareem thing happened WAY before my time and the little I've heard it mostly happened behind closed doors. Also correct me if I'm wrong but Kareem wanted to be in area that had more minorities and people of his faith hence LA? Kyrie is a fucken idiot and thinks the world is flat so I can't comment on his "woke" thinking. I for the players talking to each other that is inevitable but Jay-Z is a part owner of the Nets he also own Roc-Nation or whatever agency that woke faggot just sign with, That should be a big No-No. I think the NBAPA would be more receptive with The Franchise tag with a bigger slice of pie, what number I dunno that would have to be negotiated. But you don't think some greddy fucks like Chris Paul wouldn't sign off on this look at his absurd Super-Max he championed for basically old players like himself that will crippled teams going forward while almost all player eligible for it will be declining when they up for it. I agree the commish should take charge and fix this mess by raining hell and fire but Adam Silver is too much of pussy to do anything. If the NBA continues on this path it will go the way of MLB which is declining right before out eyes.

Kareem requested a trade to NY or LA because Milwaukee did not fit his cultural needs.

Note that at the time there was no free agency but Kareem said he would sit out the season and that was believed. Kareem has a strong personality so nobody was going to call his bluff. Also note back then the NBA was far smaller in terms of money and TV contracts.

Today the major players are worth FAR more to the owners for TV money and they have free agency. The lack of competitive balance sucks and we're all tired of the fucking Lakers and Celtics, but Adam Silver and the owners collectively aren't exactly heartbroken that Lebron's in LA instead of CLE.

This shit will continue, and future athletes (not all of them) will follow Lebron's example and stack the deck - because they can.

I don’t know if I agree. The money for the NBA is in national TV games. Having LJ in the East and as a Cav stlll made them a ton of money.

So I was right bout Kareem, I understand that Milwakkkee in the 70s most have sucked ass. Hell I hate going to white gf family outings in hillbilly Akron- Canton Area and while the immediate family is nice and sorta cool her living grandmom is a known racist, but is balls deep in demetia. Makes for some VERY awkward situations during the holidays, can't wait till that old decrepit bitch dies. Yeah those late night games aren't helping their rating hence the purpose move to early games. I have no ill will for Bron just think his surrounded by parasites. Fuck Kyrie his an imbecile hope his gimp cuck master joins him in NY.

Ah yes, my favorite part of this whole thing is watching Lakers (read: Kobe) fans and LeBronies clash over ownership of the "fanchise". I'm dying

Yeah. The further you get away from the population centers in this state, it can get real "Michael Jordan Approved".

So I definitely know it was on some BS back in the 1970s, because in 2019, there are still a lot of problems (shout out to Sterling Brown).

Screw the owners. Players should be able to play where they want. You want to complain about parity? Look how many franchises have won NBA titles since 1990

Pistons
Bulls
Rockets
Spurs
Lakers
Heat
Celtics
Mavericks
Cavaliers
Warriors
Raptors

That's 11 teams. That's a lot of damn teams. And look at other Finals teams since then:

Trail Blazers
Sonics
Suns
Magic
Jazz
Knicks
Pacers
Sixers
Nets
Thunder

That's another 10 teams.

So 20/30 have won a conference championship (Sonics/Thunder count as one). And of the ones that haven't, many have at least had solid teams that made conference finals....Clippers, Nuggets, Kings, Hawks, Bucks.

So that brings me to five shitty teams: Pelicans, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Hornets, Wizards. And actually, they have all at least had playoff teams.

So why all the complaining about parity? The league has parity. It's hard to win a championship, but not THAT hard to win a conference championship over a couple of decades, which is like 3-4 rebuilds.

11 different champions in 30 years is a lot to you? I don't think most would agree. How does your post compare to the other two major sports?

You also aren't providing numbers. Winning a couple playoff series is not akin to being a perennial contender.

Let’s look at the NFL, the ultimate parity Leauge:

Giants
49ers
Redskins
Cowboys
Packers
Broncos
Ravens
Rams
Patriots
Bucs
Steelers
Seahawks
Colts
Saints
Eagles

So 15? Am I missing anyone? Honestly 11 and 15 aren’t that different. Especially when basketball has 5 guys vs 22.

Does it really make sense to start counting at 1990?

The picture doesn't look nearly as good once you look at the long line of Celts and Lakers championships starting right before that..

Also, if we're going to cherry-pick timelines, the picture looked about 20% worse as recently as May 2016, since the Cavs and Raptors had not yet been champions. For that matter, a year before that, the Dubs hadn't won a championship in 40 years.

11 and 15 are 27% different. I think that's quite a significant difference.

Baseball

Reds
Twins
Blue Jays
Braves
Yankees
Marlins
Diamonbacks
Giants
Red Sox
Angels
White Sox
Phillies
Royals
Cardinals
Astros
Cubs

Notice who you don’t see on this list is the damn Indians... but we have 16. NBA is a sport where one player can have a greater impact since there are only 5 at a time so 11 vs 15 or 16 really isn’t that bad. In all the sports, except for maybe the Browns, every team either won titles, or made Finals, or at least had deep playoff runs.

I see your point, but I think? expansion teams cloud that memory.

Has the NFL had a full 32 for each of the last 30 years?

Whether 30 or 32, we have a similar comparison frame to make. 30 years is also a round number to make a similar comparison by, even if I had an issue with starting in 1990.

On another note, this is a good analysis on LeBrow's path to getting a Big 3:

Splurging on Luol Deng is still coming back to haunt them.
