LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Year 17.

Wow
It’s totally insane. He’s clearly the best physical specimen to ever grace a major American sport. His “controversies” have been fairly minor in nature and more tone-deaf than anything. No DVs, no baby mamas, no drugs, etc. and it could be year 19 right now if he was allowed to go pro after his sophomore year, which he could’ve. He’d be looking at a 25 year NBA run potentially.

^LeBron has been pretty disrespected by both fans and the media since last year....like always, they've tried to spell his demise by harping on his injury and his "failure" to lead that cast of rejects to the playoffs.

Fans, talking heads and even executives have been crowning Kawhi as "Best in the NBA" since the playoffs while LeBron has been demoted to "top 3 or 5" status by the cognoscenti.

LeBron is fueled by a ton of motivation right now, not unlike when everybody was ready to bury him with the emergence of Curry.

Not sure I agree that he was disrespected, although I think he took it like that. It's fair for analysts and pundits to wonder how LeBron will hold up in his 17th year and wonder if last years injury was a result of father time.

The biggest problem with Lebron overall is that he takes ANYTHING said about him that isnt kissing his ass as 'disrespect'. As in, how dare we say anything less than glowing about the king. It's why he never puts anyone who will question or debate him on his barbershop show.

That's what I find annoying. Just play man. Stop talking so much. We GET it, you are great at basketball and more than an athlete etc etc. Just play. Be more like Tom Brady. People have been questioning him for years and he just plays.

LeBron got endless shit from last January up through the offseason. He gets more criticism than any other athlete in the world, and it's been that way since he was 18 years old. Kobe raped a woman and got less criticism than LeBron did for the decision or the China comments. Skip Bayless has literally had a tv show dedicated to hating on LeBron every single day for the past 10 years.

All i am hearing today is this, Lebron trying to prove he isnt washed narrative. Ok, who in the media ever said Lebron was washed up? Maybe a few dumb fans in the Twitter comment sections, but i never heard anyone really imply that in the media. A few talking heads might have wondered how he would play in his 17th season, but washed? Most Cavs fans knew he was going to go balls out this year and still play at the same old Lebron level.
The only thing i have ever questioned his if his body will hold up through mid-June. This whole " washed" thing seems a little made up to me.

Skip Bayless, but he's been saying that since like 2015.

Yes, some people have criticized him, and Skip has been hammering on Lebron for 10 years now(does he really believe that though), but in no way shape or form has anyone in the media ever hinted at or said, Lebron is washed up, or may be washed up. That was the word Lebron used yesterday washedking i believe. And i bet 90 percent of the media people i heard this summer still said hes either the best player or 2nd. He is over dramatizing the things that were actually said about him this summer.

Stephen A Smith, Bill Plaschke, Jason Whitlock. Where is a clown face emoji when you need one?

The Lakers defense is tough: team can't shoot straight but they have size, length, and athleticism at basically every position with guys who know how to play defense

This is not true. Maybe it's because you're so singluarly focused on LeBron or something but it's been like two weeks and everyone is already over the China comment stuff for the most part. Kobe's was a much longer saga including a public trial he was traveling to during the season IIRC.

I think they still need 1 big wing to defend the Kawhi/Giannis types, feel like it's never a good thing when LBJ has to take on those assignments.

Yea - that’s the single most glaring hole on that roster. They aren’t winning anything without someone who can check wings with size. Given how much LeBron has to create on that roster, it definitely can’t be him. Strangely Anthony Davis has actually proven that he can guard those kinds of players very well for stretches. But they need someone else too. Just look what Pascal Siakam did to them the other night. He was just too tall for the Green/Bradley/Caruso types and too strong for Kuzma. Only AD was effective on Pascal but Raptors just forced the switch and abused the mismatch.

They have two holes which Lebron fills but no else can on the roster: playmaking and another physical SF defender.
Rondo can do some playmaking but it's a joke what his lack of the 3 point shooting does to an offense that creates a ton of open looks from 3
Green is a high-quality defender but he's best for guards not forwards

Iggy solves a lot of problems for them. I don't think they'll ever shoot great but with Iggy they should be able to compensate that with just a ton of open looks and defense. If they don't get Iggy they'll struggle with the Clippers (struggle in the sense that they lose it will be tough series regardless as they're frontcourt of AD/Lebron/Kuzma/McGee/Howard is terrific)

I agree, just not sure how they accomplish it without trading Kuzma. They have no picks and not much else of value to move for a legitimate piece. If I were the Lakers, I'd be trying to make this trade:

Minny Gets:
Kuzma
KCP
Rondo

LAL Gets:
Covington
Napier

Not sure if Minny goes for that, but Covington would be an incredible fit on that team. Napier would be a nice addition to the bench. The lineup of Bradley, Green, LBJ, Covington, and Davis would be tough on both ends.

Looking long-term, Kuzma, Towns, and Wiggins are all 24, Culver is a rookie, and Teague is expiring. If they could find a way to unload Dieng they'd be in great shape moving forward (sans Wiggins nasty contract).
