LeMelo Ball Scouting: Discuss

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He’s welcome to tank those interviews all the way down to the number 5 pick. I’d still take him over anyone else if giving the opportunity. Would absolutely love a Ball/Sexton backcourt with Sexton guarding the oppositions PG bit playing SG/secondary creator on offense.

Kyrie also had a screw or two loose. Didn't change the fact that he was by far the most talented guy in the draft. Similar situation here, IMO. If teams at the top want to overthink it and draft other players, they can go right ahead.

HARD PASS on Ball. I want NO part of Ball, his ugly, broke jumper, or his crazy, know-it-all dad. They’ll wreck our culture. New York can have him...

Zero concern for his Dad. He’s a blowhard but has not got in the middle of Lonzo’s professional career and isn’t gonna do it with LaMelo once he’s in the NBA. If you don’t like him, just don’t tune in to the guest appearances he makes on ESPN shows. Simple as that.

Still doubt LaMelo falls to 5, so it’s likely a moot point

I could see teams happily move down in this draft to pick up an asset or vet player. If the Cavs want LaMelo, I think they could get him. The price to move up won't be what it has been in the past. #5 might give a GM a easier time to actually pick the player they like in this draft and not shot for star potential.

The other possibility is that he's just a fucking space cadet.

Lonzo always seemed to have his head screwed on very straight -- I always thought the way he behaved in light of his dad said a lot about Lonzo's own maturity and character.

LaMelo was supposedly the golden boy of the three, and his actions do seem more diva-ish and less well-grounded than those of Lonzo. So I'm like you -- hard pass. I get the sense that even if he manages to improve his shot and defense significantly, he's not the kind of kid who would stay in Cleveland.

Why not?

We have some good school districts. Cedar Point is just one-hour-drive away. We even have a few decent ski resorts.

Well, if that's the best we can do to convince a NBA young superstar why he should stay...I think you make a pretty good case for why he wouldn't.

Agree about Lonzo. Comparing LeMelo, I'm not sure "diva" is the right word for what I'm thinking, but less grounded definitely works.

Every time I hear him talk, he just sounds like a total airhead with delusions of enlightenment or transcendence or something. He sounds like he's speaking in dialogue out of Zoolander, like Hansel's montage talking about wondering what bark is made of as a kid. The last interview I heard, he was asked about what he thinks about when he's playing or what he looks out for or whatever, like trying to allow him to talk about his vision and anticipation, and he says something like, "I really don't think, I just listen to music in my head..." and then I just slam my fist down on my desk and scream out shut the fuck up you fucking nimrod and get in trouble for language.
