Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Cavs are losing games they're expected to lose. The schedule has been rough. No need to panic imo. If the Cavs want to make a playoff push, it's still plausible. They're just 4 games back of the 8 seed. However, if the Cavs choose to tank, they already have one of the worst records in the league. Win-win.

mostly agree but, but we’ve also been losing against teams resting star players. Clippers had PG AND Leonard out. We should at least win those games

The Clippers have been good without Kawhi & PG. They beat the Heat without those guys too.

Not justifying the Cavs horrific play... Losing to better teams is expected, but they should at least be competitive.

That one stung, I hate losing against Tyrone Lue :ranting2:

I'm going to ask this with no snarkiness, sarcasm or leading to an argument. You are, clearly, the biggest Dean Wade fan here and know him the best, so...if he was given the opportunity (playing time, I assume?) what players game do you think Wade's most closely resembles?

Love with defense.

I think he means Love's archetype. Solid outside shooting for a big. Will fight for rebounds. White. I have a hard time imagining Wade producing Kevin Love's career averages (18-11) let alone his peak averages (25+, 15+). But it's not hard to imagine him being a better defender. Outside of one really meaningful stop against Steph Curry, Love isn't great in that regard.

I will say this about Wade...he shot 40, 44, and and 42 percent from 3 his last three years in college on 243 total attempts. Granted, Wade graduated the season before they moved the 3P line back to NBA distance, but he's shown an ability to hit those outside shots. He's a shooter.

The Cavs have nothing to lose by taking Wade aside and telling him that he will be playing 20+ mins a game the next 10 games. They're gonna suck regardless. The primary starter and backup are both hurt.

No matter how poorly he shoots, no matter how poorly he defends, let him know he will have time to work through it. I think he moves well on the floor and sees the floor well. Let's see if that shooting stroke comes around or if he's like most good college players who can't deal with NBA length and speed.

I agree with this. The biggest indicator to me is he shot 40% on a pretty high volume with the Charge. That ought to translate. His shot is effortless and mechanically close to perfect (I’d prefer a little more arch). Even at NBA speed it’s hard to imagine him shooting less than high 30’s with enough repetition. What has surprised me is his first step looks pretty quick. He doesn’t always seem to know what to do once he beats his man, but maybe that will come when the game slows down. Maybe it’s not there and we should cut him at the end of the year (he’s non-guaranteed), but since we are terrible, I’d like to see him get regular run and find out. Since we aren’t exactly killing it with our draft picks, maybe we could get lucky with our 2-ways.

I mean, one of Kevin Love's greatest attributes is his rebounding and Wade never averaged more than 6.2/game in college.

Can we pick a better comp?

I asked about the closest comp based on opportunity (playing time) and I got "Kevin Love with defense." There are so many other guys that could be mentioned if the production isn't gonna be the same. Or he could've said "poor man's Kevin Love with defense." Are we talking Troy Murphy? Lee Nailon? Beilija? Jason Smith? Mirza Teletovic? Ilyasova? Jabari Parker? Comparing him to a former MVP candidate is either willfully misleading or woefully ambitious.

The problem isn't the losing. It's getting blown out by 15-20 points when the other teams get serious. This teams small ass lineup is food out there. Teams opposing players have record breaking nights against us anytime they feel like it.

I’m with you. I think Wade should get some minutes seeing that the Cavs held onto him for a reason. They even signed him to a contract. Why not give him 10/15 minutes a game? What was the point of giving him a contract if you weren’t going to play him? Cavaliers have no PF at this time. I have no idea what the fuck Altman is doing. Wade is a poor man Love. I am tired of seeing these undersized players try to defend PFs when the Cavs have one on the roster. I see your frustration because this shit doesn’t make sense.
Because Bickerstaffs is just not a good coach or Altman is forcing his hand. If young Delly was on this team, he would sit in the back of the bench no matter what because he's just not a name brand player. That's shit leadership.

Game about to start so let’s all grab some chairs, put the hot chocolate on the kettle, and reserve our spots in the thread for about 2 hours from now.

Good news is, we’re now the 3rd worst record in the NBA. Get those higher lottery odds baby!!

Bad news is, we’ll probably slide to 5 in the lottery and somehow, someway Altman will find a way to screw this draft up and reach yet again.
